Yeah, agreed. I miss them when I find myself on the West Coast for extended periods of time.

[He pauses and looks at her for a moment before nodding] It's those simple things, right? So important, sometimes.

[He laughs a little] Well, if you want to get philosophical, I suppose it depends on where you are...and where you are dictates how people will react if-slash-when it does.

Why do you say San Diego in particular?

Because I like it more than LA, even if I more often find myself in LA. [dramatic sigh]

What's the difference? I'm an east-coast girl.

Both are Southern California, but LA is just generally full of assholes and San Diego is just generally nicer. Better weather, less pollution, marginally less abysmal traffic, SDCC, that kind of thing. Although in LA, you may get to see more celebrities?

I guess I get the best of both worlds, having a place in NYC and a place to stay out there too. Looks like I'll be out there more often now though, helping Kate get her team started.

I thought Kate was the competent one... She needs your help?

Hey now! I'm competent too! You stop it with that grinning! She's amazing, but I was Hawkeye first! Which means I have some experience with the team side of things. Not that she doesn't, but still. I'm the original West Coast Avenger.

...Okay that's fair. I'll accept that title. Her actual dad is a real piece of work, and if I can help her with that role a little better, I'm cool with it.

Superheroes. Fifty percent crime fighter tendencies..., fifty percent dad-issues. I wish I had hard numbers on how many of us have messed up families.

Having a Dad-friend is good though.

I've got a hard number...basically all of us. Can you imagine a super hero with a normal childhood? What would that even look like?

[He shrugs] I think it means something to her. And it would explain why she keeps me around despite how often I exasperate her...
