[A tag-along was not in the plans, but Loki can always make calculated adjusts along the way. He continues down the hallway and deeper into the complex.]
[Eric should probably notice the guy who shouldn't be here in SHIELD and all but he's playing games on his desk to avoid boredom. Hmmm, Angry Birds again? Why not?]
[He continues to follow along, pulling out his phone to casually look at it as he does so, making it more difficult for anyone who randomly comes across him to tell he might be following anyone.]
[They wouldn't have noticed anyway. Loki was a mere shadow, and most would not even see him the first time around much less give him a second glance. He'd used this trick once before--only then Coulson was not familiar with the God of Mischief.
He strolled leisurely toward his destination, biding his time.]
[He knew calling an alarm at the moment would lead to an even worse scenario, so he just kept wordlessly following. Still, though, he kept the option open, just in case it was needed.]
[It probably didn't help that the sorcerer had a trick for blending into the crowd when he didn't want to be seen. A tiny shift in perception, an illusion that kept him out of sight and out of mind. It wasn't "foolproof" as the phrase went, but it hardly ever failed nevertheless.
He ignored the mortals in the room as he went about his business, an entirely different sort of game he played as he watched and learned. And if he happened to pick up a specific file or two, well. Information was power. And Loki always desired more power.]
[Maybe it was the fact that Eric was distracted already which caused it, a conflict in precise perception, but as the stranger happened to pass by Eric glanced up for a few seconds, eyes focused in mild curiousity at his back. He wasn't a SHIELD guy... was he? O'Grady wasn't totally certain, but there was something which felt a little... off, he wasn't certain. He waited about thirty seconds before rising up and logging out, as if to head for a toilet break before moving for the door after him.]
[Coulson's caution was well-deserved but in the end all for naught. A hand reached out of the darkness of the room and grabbed the agent by the lapel only to yank the mortal inside.
Whatever darkness invaded this room, it certainly wasn't natural. And any hope of this event having been spotted by any other agents probably should have been put aside--just like everything else surrounding the trickster, a simple illusion covered everything up.]
[But the god had the advantage of being able to see through his own illusion and he reached through the darkness to complete his action of pulling the agent within. The door shut behind him.]
[He was in no hurry to get anywhere it seemed. He walked leisurely down the hallways of the compound, and did not falter in step as if he knew the complex by heart.]
No. I figured that calling an alarm really wouldn't do terribly much to prevent mayhem. I decided that keeping an eye on the situation was a bit more prudent.
[Loki released the mortal as soon as he was certain the agent wasn't faking it, and watched him fall to the ground, lifeless. He didn't check to see if the mortal were still alive though he had not, he thought, held on that long.
It didn't matter. He just needed the agent out of the way for a bit longer. He adjusted the illusion in the room to temporarily hide Coulson's form without being suspiciously pitch black and, with a quick adjustment to his mortal suit garment, headed back out into the hallway to continue his business.]

But I think it not enough in this case.

[He tried rather futilely to spot much of anything in the darkness, just to orient himself, but it wasn't doing much good.]
What are you doing here?

They'll know something's wrong soon.

[He squeezed Coulson's throat, cutting off the mortal's air.]
Goodnight, Agent Coulson.
