He probably should be expecting something like that to happen, since fate seems to have it in for him. The unknown number calling his has him wary, even as he picks up the receiver. "Hello?"

"Do you know where the Babylon Diner is?"

". . . I'm familiar with it, yes. Why?"

"Cause I'm there. With Nate. And we're not really sure how to get home from here and well...any chance you'd be willing to give us a ride?"

He went silent at that, realizing just what she was asking of him, and what it would mean. Where it would mean going. Hesitation filled him, but the small voice in the back of his head he assumed was his conscience told him he couldn't leave them stranded.

"Wait, how'd you get out there without knowing where to go?"

Joseph, Joseph, Joseph. Why do you put anything past teenagers. Really, now. You should know better.

"Cause we kind of ditched our security team. And we were already out when that happened. So we just kind of stumbled across the diner. Like fate...leading us to AWESOME pie."

If he could have facepalmed right about then, he would be. Why did his head suddenly hurt? Oh, right, because apparently it had become his lot in life to deal with teenagers who could disappear out from under the noses of their guards. Was this what Jack had been like as a kid? Some small part of him had to wonder if this was Jack's genetic influence coming through.

Oops. Of course it was an 'oops' moment, because what else was he expecting? Rubbing a hand over his face in a tired gesture, the older man hauled himself off of his small, rickety couch before grabbing his jacket and moving to find his shoes.

"Alright, just-- Sit tight and keep an eye out for anyone suspicious, okay?"

"Anyone suspicious? Really? It's a diner. At 12:16 in the morning. Everyone looks suspicious. We probably look suspicious." It was almost a pre-requisite at times like these. To look a little off. The middle of the night diner crowd was a very special crowd indeed. Sweet, but not quite all there.

"Right. On it. We're sitting tight."
