*The Prince frowned, his gaze shifting to the east. He had been distracted by his thoughts, and had not noticed Curufin’s arrival. He often came up to this bluff that overlooked the forest and river to think, and tonight there was much on his mind. He had a tendency to brood, and valued an opportunity to be alone to think. Still, the company was not unwelcome. In fact, he had been hoping to have a chance to talk with him, so this would at least would provide him with the opportunity.*
So it is. I fear it will not be long before that storm envelops us here as well, and I cannot help but wonder if we are prepared.
There has been a shadow on this forest for years, and now it has lifted. It hung most heavily about Dol Guldur, and now it has departed. I would consider that a cause for celebration if I did not wonder where it has gone. When I search for it with my mind, I can feel it hanging over us still, but now it seems diffused, like a black fog or a dark mist that is drifted far away but is still potent with destruction. It has not forgotten us.
[ He, too, turns to face east, and then slowly shifts his stance so that he looks southeast and then south, as though he were trying to get a fix on the direction of what he fears. His expression is both worried and puzzled. ]
I think indeed it may be prudent to sharpen our nicked-up swords again. [ He smiles wryly. ]
Tauriel is of the same opinion. She has been… very vocal on the matter, and my father does not always appreciate it.
*It was rather like walking on eggshells with them lately. Tauriel would give her opinions, which the King would quickly dismiss, and she would spend the rest of the day seething. Privately, he agreed with her, but there was a fine line between loyalty to his father and loyalty to Tauriel, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to navigate.*
My father would say the storm is merely a storm, but I am not so sure.
Not that we NEED another thread, but, couldn't resist.
A storm out of the East.
LOL we ALWAYS need new threads!
