[ Curie is wearing a drifter's coat along with the vest of a fallen Brotherhood Scribe that she found out in the Wasteland during her early travels. And she is standing right besides the Sanctuary sign near the bridge that leads out towards the Red Rocket. And with a smile as bright as the day's sun, Curie almost draws a blank. ]
I'd see if we can find some hospital or clinics, I'd like to see if there are any computer terminals that haven't been damaged. [ And she pulls out a list from her pocket with a gloved hand. And she opens it up to show a list of things she needs. ]
And I am still am running short on glowing fungus. We also need more antiseptic. And don't worry; I have packed a hazmat suit with me!
[ Curie is always ready to spend time with a friend, and even more ready to explore the world outside of Sanctuary. And with an automatic laser rifle and one cherished assaultron blade at herside Curie is ready to deal with what the wasteland throws at her.
And when Danse mentions both Kendall and Milton General Hospital, Curie places a hand to her chin. And even if they're not going to a hospital that has a mutant infestation, the road to both hospitals will be ripe with danger. ]
Perhaps we can visit both if all goes well. And I have came prepared for everything that we may cross on our journey!
[ The Commonwealth is full of all kinds of dangers - raiders, gunners, mutants, the local wildlife, the list is endless. Every journey is a risk. Then again, even hiding away at home carries risk of attack. At least Sanctuary is well defended.
The road can be long and lonely. Having a friend not only gives an added level of protection, it also adds companionship. Nothing is better than wandering the Wastes with a friend at your side.
Danse gives an affirmative nod when Curie mentions she's prepared. ]
[ Curie continues along the road towards the Red Rocket and at least this part of the trip is uneventful. And while she is ready for whatever they might come across, she is hoping they might stumble on some new life or anything that she can add to her research.
And with a smile on her face, Curie looks over to Danse when he calls her a soldier in the making. ]
So, preparedness makes for a good soldier. The same is to be said about a scientist. And I am sure much like science there is always room for things to go array.
[ And Curie never did bother to ask where either hospital was within the proximity to Sanctuary. And not having a Pip-boy does make travel a bit more interesting. ]
[ Danse nods. There's always room for error. Always room for things to go wrong. He tries to keep a positive outlook on every mission, while still being prepared for any curve balls the world throws their way.
A Pip-boy would be most useful right now. Maybe they should've tried to swipe Sole's before venturing out. Luckily, Danse has pretty in-depth knowledge of the Commonwealth - enough not to get them lost, at least.
It's going to be a fair ol' trek though. ]
At least the weather is good. We should make good progress.
That it is, and I do hope that we do not have any storms during our journey.
[ And a good map is something Curie can find from some of the wandering caravans and a working compass. It might not be a Pip-boy but it will allow Curie to adventure on her own. But for now she is going to trust Danse' sense of direction as she walks along the broken and uneven street. Her eyes looking over the cars that have been left to the elements, and she does wonder if any of them are still operational. ]
So how have you been since we have last spoke?
[ Curie says, while she does her best to keep up with Danse. And she is going to take good advantage of having someone with her. Talk. ]
[ First adventure out together and already Curie is looking forward to travelling out in the world alone? Hopefully that's not a reflection on Danse's winning personality - or lack thereof.
His power armor clinks and clanks with every step along the road, eyes constantly darting about for signs of danger. Once a soldier, always a soldier. ]
I have been... well. [ Wow, Danse! That sounding so convincing... not. ]
[ Curie does worry sometimes about being a bother, and she doesn't want to distract Danse from any other jobs he has. But Danse has very little to worry about when it comes Curie not wanting to travel with him. ]
Are you sure?
[ She asks while she follows behind him. Curie is still not used to her sensors having gone missing, and paying attention to everything around her is not her forte anymore. But what she does keep an eye out for are plants she can bring back with her, and she stops at the side of the road to pick some slit bean and wild carrots. And with a carrot flower in her hand, she takes a whiff of the sweet blossom and she simply holds onto it. ]
And I want to let you know that I have been looking forward to our travels together.
[ Since being exiled from the Brotherhood, Danse's to do list has been rather empty. He's been helping out where he can around Sanctuary, but mostly he's been keeping himself to himself. It's probably not that healthy. Having company is good for him. ]
I... [ He shifts uneasily. ] I've been keeping to myself. Alone with my thoughts.
[ He stills to wait for her to catch up. ] I too have been looking forward to travelling with you, Curie.
[ Curie can't help but to pick carrot flowers, hubflowers, and other wild plants to bring back with them to Sanctuary. And who knows when they might be useful while they're out on the road. And she runs after Danse to catch up with him. ]
And what have you been thinking?
[ She asks and she's comfortable if he doesn't want to talk about it. But Curie is willing to allow herself to be the non-official Sanctuary psychologist. ]
And that's if you want to talk about it, Monsieur.
[ Plants and robot parts, Curie has taken an interest in the rogue robots all thanks to the Mechanist. Curie is a rather resourceful scavenger, and without scavenging, she would not be able to keep her small clinic stocked. ]
It does not matter if they don't make up for pleasant conversation. And it is best that you don't bottle up these thoughts up. [ Curie leaves the plants be for now to keep up with Danse, with her hands held at her side and her eyes on the road ahead of them as they get closer to Concord. ]
[ Danse's grip on his laser rifle tightens as they near Concord. He knows from experience that raiders like to congregate there. Nothing he and Curie can't handle between them, though, he's sure. ]
I have been struggling to find my place in the world. I am still finding difficulty in accepting myself. For even believing I should still exist. I know our friend took a hell of a risk to stand up to Maxson and save my life... I often find myself wondering whether it was worth the risk. Was I worth saving?
[ Curie watches Dance’s grip tighten on his rifle, and she unhooks the automatic laser rifle from her pack. And if not from experience, but from word of mouth that Curie knows of the Raiders who like have set up shop there. ]
Of course, you were worth saving; I don't think our friend would have risked themselves if you weren't. As for finding a place in the world, I can see how that is proving to be difficult. But you do need to learn to accept that you have every right to be here.
[ Curie crouches down, as they get closer to Concord. If the Raiders have returned, she does not want to give away their position. ]
[ It will take Danse a long time to accept himself. It's definitely not going to be an overnight revelation. There is so much he needs to work through in his own mind before he can even begin to accept himself. Not to mention all he'll have to do to get the world around him to accept him. ]
I'm not sure I believe it yet, but thank you.
[ He looks down the sight of his rifle, getting a better view ahead. It seems quiet. Strangely so, in fact. ]
[ Curie takes cover behind a couple of sandbags and she keeps her rifle propped over them. It is too quiet, waay too quiet and what she wouldn't give for her old Mr. Handy sensors for times like these. ]
You're friends do, and in time you will as well. But perhaps it is up to both of us to continue to do good for mankind. [ She whispers to him. And at least trying to help Danse keep busy is important, but helping him find purpose is another.
And creeping around a corner is a pair of raiders grumbling about the jet jitters who are completely unaware of the two. They're not well armed, pool cues aren't exactly a threat to a guy in a suit of armor. But the sniper on the roof of a build who's taking a nap might be a bigger problem. ]
[ Unaware raiders give Danse moral dilemmas. On the one hand, they're not an immediate threat. On the other hand, leaving them breathing is likely to end in violence further down the line. Raiders are not known for being upstanding citizens. Nor are they known for changing their ways.
Not to mention, Concord is a little too close to Sanctuary and the people they care about to leave any risk unchecked. ]
[ Curie hates violence and she simply keeps herself behind the sandbags. And if it was her avoiding getting into a fight with these raiders would be her choice of action. But alas, raiders aren't known for having the knack for intelligent conversation, but still violence. And she sighs when she hears Danse's war cry.
And this war cry alerts the trio of raiders who freeze like a herd of deer that are about to meet a grisly end from the business end of a Mack truck when they see Danse in his power armor. The two look at each other and try to wonder if it is worth engaging Danse yet alone Curie.
And in comic fashion, they go and beat a hasty retreat. ]
You can have this dump! [ One of the raiders cries out as he runs for cover and he hopes that Danse won't run them down. ] Okay! Just forget you ever saw us!
[ Danse is definitely an imposing figure when he's suited up in his X-01 armor. A walking tank. It would be easy to feel intimidated. The raiders have more sense than Danse gave them credit for. Fleeing is definitely the smartest solution.
It still leaves Danse torn. He's a soldier through and through. However, he's never been the kind of man to shoot a man in the back. ]
The next time you set foot in Concord I will end you. All of you. Remember that.
Yes, sir! We won't ever set a foot inside of Concord! We promise so much that we won't even return for a new pair of pants to replace the ones Manny soiled!
[ The other raider cries out, and all but the napping sniper on the roof have now left Concord. So much for loyalties when life and limb is at risk. And the other two just keep on running off road to their boss. It is not a good day to be a raider in Concord.
And Curie pokes her head out from the sandbags, and she calls over to Danse as she slowly gets up with her rifle still in hand. She is learning quite a deal to not get in over her head now that she has a more breakable body. ]
Ah, that was most exciting! [ Even if there was no blood split, Curie is happy for the excitement and lack of violence that follows. ] And a first for the raiders. Perhaps they are coming to their senses, yes.
[ Danse just hopes that his show of mercy doesn't come back to bite him in the ass further down the line. He doubts the raiders have truly learned their lesson or changed their ways. ]
I believe it will be a ling time before the raiders change their behaviour. Still, it would appear their self preservation instincts kicked in. Let's hope they heed my warning.
[ He gives a soft smile as he lowers his own weapon. ]
One can only hope that perhaps they would, but alas, you speak the truth. And I am very certain that we will meet other raiders during our travels.
[ Curie hopes those Raiders don't come back, but she knows that for whatever reason they keep coming back to Concord. And she jogs over to Danse, and she tries not to worry too much about the raiders. ]
Of course, and I do wish we had a map. [ She looks down the street towards the church and the other street. Ah the wonders of the human mind, and how easy it is to forget sometimes. ]
But we should continue our conversation about you, Monsieur Danse.
Perhaps we could stop by the library, see if any maps survived the bombs and the subsequent looting. It is a long shot.
Alternatively, once we return to Sanctuary we could ask our friend if we could borrow their Pip-Boy long enough to sketch our own copy of the map they have.
[ He's totally not avoiding the conversation about him as he walks down the road. Nope. Nosiree... Okay, maybe just a little bit. ]
[ A trip to any library is a-okay in Curie's book, and she nods her head in excitement of going to what remains of Boston. And it is a great way to draw her attention away from Danse's feelings, and any potential looting of anything as they make their way to the diner. ]
Oooh! That would be most wonderful... Though I do believe the pre-war maps would be considered obsolete.
[ She can also return to her old vault, but she is not sure how they would welcome a pair of synths inside. But Curie keeps smiling as she gets what she thinks is a brilliant idea. ]
Perhaps it is our duty to make a new map. It would allow for both of us to explore, and to help people on our way.
A wonderful idea. An up to date map of the Commonwealth as it currently stands... It is a huge undertaking though. We will have to scour every inch of the Commonwealth.
[ That means an awful lot of travelling with the grumpy tin can, Curie. Are you sure you're up for that? ]
I believe it will be a most wonderful undertaking, and maybe we will find things that nobody has yet to discover. Oooh maybe there are other vaults that are just waiting for us to discover!
[ Curie has no problems with Danse, and she enjoys his company even if he is stuffed full of angst. And Danse gets to travel with someone who loves to pick as many flowers as possible. ]
And I think our first place of business should be in Diamond City to speak with Piper.
[ And once more he finds himself unable to hold back a slight smile at her enthusiasm and excitement. Although the idea of finding undiscovered vaults is exciting. Especially is they are inhabited. There could be a whole wealth of information and technology protected from the harsh wastelands. People unaffected by the radiation. ]

I would recommend we steer clear of Medford Memorial Hospital for the time being. The place is usually crawling with Super Mutants.
