Not everyone watches that comm, and even if they do, that doesn't mean we have to like it.

They never advertised that I would for some reason no longer be able to access or edit my journal's memories. The second the new layout went live, my html snapped in half like a twig (although, strangely, my profile codes remained fine) and half the site is inaccessible to me (but only, strangely when signed in as a paid account user) because text and links are trying to exist in the same place at the same time and failing.

So. I don't think I'll get over it, no.

And that's a different issue entirely.

It wasn't in any of the messages I've gotten from LJ, and I get the news emailed to me.

I didn't even know that comm existed, and I can't get to half the site when I'm not in a paid account. And this is the only paid account I have. I'm lucky I've even got that. XD

So just because it's not a surprise that means it's not ugly and the people who aren't allowed to opt out of the ugly clusterfuck on their profile pages shouldn't complain?

Not really. Because it started the second the new layout went live. It is somehow related.

I've been beta testing it for weeks. Took me a while to get used to, but now I prefer it.

But I don't see why LJ couldn't offer people a choice. That seems like the right thing, to me, to let them choose between the old one and the new?

Well, yeah. It's related. I don't know shit about HTML except that it breaks all the fucking time. It's a legit complaint.

So do I. It's neater and better organized. The tabs are collapsible.

I don't either, which is why it's very frustrating to me that I can now no longer view the LJ FAQ, where all the LJ coding/html lives.

Basically the only things I can do on the site at this point are: post entries, view my flist, and leave comments (which sounds like a lot, but considering all the actual LJ features available is diddly). I have a support request in, but there are a thousand ahead of me, so outlook does not look good.

Also: I'm not being e-mailed comments, of course. :(

To be honest? I wasn't surprised, I knew they were beta testing it. But I didn't like it then, and I still don't like. Its a free space, people are allowed to dislike things and express their dislike.

And I'm just as allowed to express my dislike with the amount of people who are surprised by it.

No one warned about the actual change either. I heard about the beta, and that was the last I saw on it. It DID surprise me when I hit user info and everything was in the wrong places. And while I'm sure I will get over it with time, I really didn't like the 'search for email' thing. Regardless of being able to turn it off or not.

I really so not want random people emailing me.

We care because we pay the money that goes into the paychecks of the people who are screwing up shit that didn't need to be fixed in the first place?

Probably, but that's so not the point.

They can keep it. All those of us that hate it are asking for is an opt-out option.
