A kind of friend. I met him here in Washington.

I see. What did you tell him?

That I did not see any harm in having dinner together.

I'm sure there isn't any harm in it.

He is pleasant to be around.

He did not indicate there would be any ceremony involved. What else would it be?

Well, I'm sure you're aware of the rather odd human custom involving inviting someone to dinner whom you are romantically interested in. The term 'date' is usually used to refer to such a scenario.

Oh, well, yes. Still, it is only a meal.

Indeed it is. As I said, I'm sure there isn't any harm in it.
Not that it was really any of my business to begin with.

Maybe I can help? I'm not very good with the dating thing either, but I might be able to answer some questions.

Well, I have never been on a date before and until he asked, it wasn't something I ever even considered.

Dinner, not Greek. He said nothing here would be able to measure up to what I had at home.

Well, I'm happy to lend an ear where it's welcome. And I hope you and Steve enjoy yourselves.

Well, he definitely gets points for that. Okay, I think dress up, but nothing too formal, maybe a cute dress or a skirt and a nice top.
