Looking up at her sister, Sophie pursed her lips together for a moment before laughing. "Yes! I swear, every time someone finds out that I took ballet when I was younger..." She shook her head and rested back against the couch with her cup of tea.
"We should ask Will what it is with guys and wanting girls to be flexible. Bones and muscles can only bend so far," she said, shaking her head. She took a sip of her tea and raised her eyebrows. "Besides the obvious question, how did the rest of your date go?"
"Want to take bets now that Will will sputter and turn red before finding a way not to answer the question?" She shook her head in amusement before sipping her tea. "It was okay, but not spectacular. It's hard when a guy like him asks about your family, and you can't exactly tell him your mum and dad are over a century old and you occasionally need blood."
She snorted as a thought crossed her mind. "I should have told him that, then told him I was flexible just to see which one caused more of a reaction."
Athena started to laugh and shrugged. "I think he's starting to get used to living in a house full of women. He did see me naked last week thanks to C.J.," she said as she rolled her eyes. She loved the Sanctuary's resident elf but she was a troublemaker at times.
"That's why you should date guys part of the network. Like Declan. He's cute!" Athena said as she playfully nudged her twin sister with her foot. "And I'm sure he would have either asked for you to bite him or tried to stake you with something."
"And he still sputtered and turned red," Sophie said with a laugh as she put her cup down before turning to lean against the back of the couch. "Declan is very cute. But being the daughter of the two most powerful members of the network can be problematic at times. Unless it's Terrence Wexford..."
She shuddered a bit, sure Wexford had shown interest simply because of who she was related to.
"But I'm pretty sure he would've gone running out of the restaurant," she said, leaning her head back and closing her eyes. She paused for a moment in though. "You think Declan would go on a date if I asked? Maybe I should tell him I'm flexible."
"I really don't need to be reminded of Wexford trying to woo you," Athena said as she pulled a face. "After you turned him down, I was sure he was going to get all Jurassic Park on you."
Rolling her eyes, Athena shook her head. "Oh please. The other night when we were all hunting that abnormal and the both of us got knocked down, he couldn't get to you fast enough. And I was the one with the busted knee!" she said as she gestured to her left leg. Thank goodness for vampire healing. "But don't mention you're flexible. He's a guy and will keep thinking about it and you know how mum and Sally pick up on those sort of things."
"Believe me, I don't want to remember. I thought I was going to have to get the tranq gun or go vampire on him."
When her sister reminded her about what had happened the other night, Sophie felt her cheeks turn red. She was right - Declan had nearly tripped over himself to help her. "Well, Will seemed to be pretty concerned about you. I thought he was going to offer to carry you home," she pointed out before pushing her hair back behind her ears. "You're right, though...I probably shouldn't mention that to him. But maybe I should ask him."
"Will was just being nice," Athena said as she rolled her eyes. She was pretty sure Will wasn't interested in her and was just looking out for a team member. "And you should. And don't take no for an answer."
After finishing off her tea, Athena sat the cup down on the coffee table before looking at her sister again. "Nikola sent a message to mum and dad today. I'm not sure what it said but mum didn't seem very pleased. We might want to tread lightly at dinner this evening."
"He isn't just being nice," Sophie said, shaking her head. "Why do you think he sputters and turns red? He likes you. And if I'm going to ask Declan out, then you should ask Will out."
She then raised her eyebrows at her remark. "Oh dear. With Nikola, that means either he pissed someone off and Mum and Dad are going to have to go fix it, or he drank all of the wine in the cellar at the villa."
"I'll think about," Athena said, which meant she was going to and Sophie couldn't make her. She didn't care if her twin sister was a few minutes older then her, she wasn't going to make her do anything.
"I think this is something bigger than Nikola drinking wine. Dad actually had to take Mum to another room to cool off and poor Henry ran the other way," she said with a soft snort. "I have a feeling Nikola is about to pay us a visit."
Sophie looked at her sister, pretty sure that meant that she wasn't going to do anything. At this rate, she was going to have to lock the two of them up somewhere.
When she then told her just how upset their mum had been, she felt her eyes widen. "If our brother's hiding out, then this is definitely not good," she said, shaking her head. "I guess we'll be finding out soon enough what's going on, especially if Nikola comes here."
"If Nikola shows up in the next few days, I'm hiding," Athena said with a laugh. She knew to stay out of the way when Nikola did something wrong.
"But enough about Nikola. Lets talk about Declan. I think he's down in the lab if you want me to, I can go down and get him for you," she said with a smirk.
"That's probably a good idea," Sophie agreed. The fights between their parents and Nikola could be legendary, even though she knew they all cared about each other.
When Athena offered to go get Declan, she shook her head. "No. What are going to say? 'My sister has a question about dating you'?" Taking a deep breath, she pushed herself up from the couch. "I'll go talk to him. Since you're not going to leave me alone until I do."
"Actually, I was going to say, 'My sister has black lacy bras and panties and she wants to show them to you'," Athena said with a grin before she ducked in case Sophie decided to swat her.
When her sister got up from the couch, she raised her eyebrows. "Go, Sophie, go! Don't scare the poor bloke, all right?" she said with a laugh.
"Oh God. No talk of lacy underthings," she said, shaking her head. Not that that idea of Declan seeing her bra and panties was a bad thing. "Not yet, at least."
She started to head for the door before turning around to look at her, walking backwards as she spoke. "I swear, I'm going to lock you and Will in a room together and make you two admit that you like each other like everyone knows. At least I'm going to talk to the one I do."
Athena stuck her tongue out at Sophie, not caring if it made her look immature. "Half-vampire, remember? I can break the door down, lovely sister of mine," she said with a smirk. "But if you want to explain to Mum why one of her doors is broken, go right ahead."
She gave her sister a smug look and shooed her off with her hand. "Declan isn't getting any younger," she said.
