Quint weighs a bit more than a human boy the same size would, but not so much that the Mastiff doesn't outweigh him. That doesn't stop him from giving the big dog a hug and scritches, as well as handing out scritches and petting to the rest as he tries to stay on his feet. He's apparently not unaccustomed to big happy dogs, only saying in explanation, "We have a Saint Bernard at home."
