Now, to order some new furniture.

For what?

For the penthouse that I expect to return to very soon.

It was too much to hope that you'd do something about our house?

My penthouse needs its kitchen and living room furniture completely replaced as well as other work done before it's needed to entertain company.

Well, yes, but I was hoping you'd take an interest in your ancestral home. Are you embarrassed to bring your little friends home?

I am not going to bring the cream of Gotham society to the Crane family home.

It's not the first time that particular curdled cream has spilled into our hallways.

I far prefer going to their homes. That way, I have no obligation to stay longer than I choose. If I do invite someone to my home, it is going to be my penthouse.

I have to say that I feel rejected.

and there's no dungeon or crypt at your penthouse. What kind of boring parties does THAT make for?

Having any connection to the Crane family home would attract unwanted police attention. The whole point of involving myself with the Gotham elite is to establish myself as above suspicion.

As I've been saying for years, "suspicion" isn't proof. I understand. You're ashamed of me.

Suspicion isn't proof, but suspicion means they'll start looking for proof. I would prefer they not investigate my income too closely.

That house does need work done, and I will get it done. The penthouse just takes priority.

I meant I doubt you'll invite me, let alone introduce me. Harvey may be used to it, but I'm not.

Well, I never host parties anyway, and the people I would invite back to my penthouse... Yeah, not letting any of you three meet them.
