The accent is unmistakable and, even though he can't see her, Saxsice unconsciously sits a little straighter. "U-Um, this is me..I mean, she...I mean...hi."
Sitting up even straighter and wincing slightly at the pain this caused her ribs, Saxsice smoothed her hair - again, pointlessly - and said, "Dr. Kovac. Hi. Um, I'm doin' all right..."
"Ah, you should have said something, I would have set you up with a clinic visit. Can you come back to the ER so I can see how you're doing?" His concern now comes across in his voice as he realizes how much time has passed without a follow-up.
She sighed softly. "I didn't want to...inconvenience you." She hesitated, wincing slightly and rubbing her ribs. "Um...yeah, probably. I'll...have to get a babysitter, but..."
"It's not an inconvenience." He hesitates a moment.
"I tell you what, if it would be easier, I could come by and see you, then, if it looks like there is a problem I'll set up for you to come back for another x-ray. You won't have to worry about a baby-sitter then. Would that be better?"
