At the same time though I see too many girls who are enduring rape that think they can't say shit because no one will believe them. Double edged sword that way.

Yes, but I think that situation is ALSO a symptom of this exact thing. They're so afraid rape has been yelped so often they won't be believed.

I'm sorry, I'm a bit touchy about the misuse of the word, especially where my family is concerned. Doubly especially where DAWNA and HENRY are concerned, because the situation was in NO WAY rape, statutory or otherwise.

Well all statutory rape means is some adult decided to sleep with a teen. Consensual or not a kid ain't able to consent by law. You do it, suck up the fact you're becoming a criminal and shut the fuck up.

I think so too. The utter ridiculousness of that is beyond my brain's functioning.

There are cases where the adult didn't even SLEEP with the teen that the adult can be brought in on statutory rape charges. However, my offense is more reading the laws to fit their own IDEAS of statutory rape, and their own areas laws as fitting all areas. Laws are different in the UK than the US, and pointing that out got Dawna shouted at and told she was suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.
