So few people do. And then not listening to the facts as they are explained even though no-one should have to explain their actions to another.

People are so familiar with this account (http://camdenhouse.ignisart.com/canon/fina.htm) that they refuse to believe that there could possibly be anotherside to the story.

People always do. People forget that there is, that there are other people with feelings and thoughts and views just like them. Because it's away from what other people see as 'normal', they automatically think that it's wrong even though no actual laws are being broken except maybe social ones.

Since when is it wrong to love someone?

I'm sorry, Miss Moriarty, it's been a very trying morning and I fear it's going to get worse as the day wears on.

My granddaughter is seeing a 25 year old man. She's 16 and he was her teacher, though not anymore because she left. They are not (as far as I am aware) in a sexual relationship as of yet.

I myself was 30 when I met the woman who would be my wife. She was 16. I was a virgin when we met and she was the one with the experience. The age of sexual consent over here is 16 years of age, so no laws were being broken then and none now with my granddaughter. They are insinuating that I raped her, and that I broke her with my seduction of her without listening to the explanations we give. Not that we have to explain to her anyway.

For a culture that claims to be straitlaced, Victorian society seems enamoured with scandals, both sexual and otherwise.

*sighs softly and nods* It is, very much so.

I just wish people would listen instead of clinging so steadfastly to things and then getting angry when people don't follow their beliefs.

"I just received a letter from the headmistress of a London girls' school where I am seeking a position. She wrote that, while she would be willing to grant me an interview, that 'I fear that, while certainly qualified, you may not be quite the moral example we are looking for for the ladies at our institution.' For goodness sakes, they want a mathematics teacher, not a theologist!"

*calms down* I'm sorry...It's nowhere near as serious as your own frustrations, Doctor, but it is trying all the same.

*listens carefully* My apologies, Miss Moriarty and I agree, it is trying. People should take you for who you are as a person and not your age, or even your sex, but how YOU act, and you should be allowed resolution for any wrongs you may have made in the past. Even if it wasn't your fault.

Believe me when I say I know entirely how it is. With Edward, I feared I'd never be resolved of his sins, and I still have the nightmares about his transgressions but I try, and I hope that it would be the same for me if I ever got pulled before judgement for them.
