Grief isn't a disease. Its a wound and wounds need time to heal. Thats why sometimes you cant think or function for a while. Your heart and mind need time to work through it.

Grief is outlawed?

Yes, all emotion is. The penalty is execution by incineration.

How can.. tha' be outlawed?

The Council have gone to lengths to assure that emotions can be controlled, suppressed. To feel is to be convicted of sense-crime and executed.

Outlawed? The heart cannot be legislated.

We have methods. Our physiological responses, they can be monitored, controlled.
