I really shouldn't be so surprised.

It can be surprising sometimes, depending on the situation.

The events themselves, sure. But the end result of being someplace other than where you started? Not so much.

I suppose that's true, especially if it's somewhere you didn't intend to be or somewhere you never thought you'd be.
