Knives are my preferred method.

Isn't that more impersonal than, say, your bare hands?

I think it meets that line between personal and efficient quite nicely.

I find hands pretty efficient.

Bare hands have their place. But so does a slit throat.

So does a bullet between the eyes.

Touché. For myself, though, I'd rather be as hands on as possible while still making good time. It's no fun teaching someone a lesson if you can do it from yards away.

Something that involves knives... not a lot of those these days.

Carver sounds about right. It is, sadly, a dying art.

Oh, absolutely. You'd be amazed how cooperative tomatoes can be once they've seen you rosette their kin.

I'm more of a hands-over-knives kind of girl, but I'm in a related field.

So where do you do your carving?

I travel. You could say I'm somewhat of a specialist.

Your services are in high demand?

Actually, I have a fairly select group of clients. I simply go where they need me.

And do your clients pay well?

I'm well compensated, yes. Anyone would be a fool to do it otherwise.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that point. I like to bake for people who need bread, money or not.

I'm afraid we will. My fruit platters only go to those my clients feel truly deserve them.
