Do you have a favorite song? *i don't*

"Love Thing" by Stillwater.

Anything by them, actually.

*sigh* I'm not entirely surprised. But it's brilliant.

A lot of rock music is amazing. Just keep looking till you find what you like.

Ever tried a classic rock station? Some of the lyrics are pure poetry.

For me, my favorite song changes frequently depending on mood, what I'm into at the moment, and so forth.

Songs Mister Ellis sings tend to be at the top of my list.

My man, and one of the finest musicians around. He plays jazz and blues primarily, piano and saxophone like you would not believe.

Me either, though I am trying again - this time, with drums.

Valentine Varner, by the way - please, call me Val. And you are...?

Nice to meet you as well, Laura.

So what's got you contemplating on music?

[identity profile] vavarner.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
I will hook you up with some new music if you like! I'm good at that.

Let's start with this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2YnDlEMXiU). Tell me if you like it what you like about it, and if you don't like it, what you don't like about it - if you can.

So thematically, you usually like songs where the romance works out? Are there any other themes you enjoy?

And did you like any of the elements of the music- the near classical violins, for example?

How about the pacing? Do you like slow songs like that, faster ones?

Songs with a harder or a softer beat?

[identity profile] startling-blue.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
I don't have one, either.

[identity profile] startling-blue.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
A lot of newer music is like that. Unfortunate, but true.

*nods* Booty shaking is apparently a goldmine for modern lyricists. Who'd have thought?

[identity profile] startling-blue.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs* Classical is sorely overlooked. And I'm not saying that because I play or anything, I don't - it's just... incredible how much the composers could express.

[identity profile] startling-blue.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
*nodding* That sounds like a very effective response. Are you in college?

[identity profile] startling-blue.livejournal.com 2009-02-03 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Cool. I kind of wanted to go to boarding school when I was younger. I thought it'd be fun. *shrugs* I think I read too many books about it.

Set Fire to the Third Bar by Snow Patrol and Martha Wainwright. At least at the moment. :)
