I admit I don't know a terrible lot about the 'market,' but education is very important! I rather wish I'd have had enough money to go to college, but it would have been an indulgence at best, and a waste at worst, for a girl like me to seek higher education.
Oh - well, I suppose it may be different in other times, but - where I come from, sending a girl who's not from a rich family away to college would be extravagant. Most of us are meant simply to marry and have families, although I myself am working at the moment.
Are you able to save money and go to college? I do not normally have a lot of money, but I sell flowers and this month a great many people are buying from me.
I suspect that by the time I would have saved enough money, I'd be much too old for it. Anyway I'll likely be married soon, if things go as I hope for them to, and then I can devote as much of my time to reading and educating myself as I like. *wistful*
Well... *hesitates, blushing* Anyhow I hope I'll be married soon. That is to say, I am still looking, but - it can't be long, what with all the effort I put into it. I suppose I'm a bit of a romantic.
Oh - I suppose one of the boys in town. And, well, I would say that I present myself very well, from my decorum to my dress. Especially for a factory girl. I'm quite sociable and I've been told many men would find me charming. It's just taking so long, you see, because I work six days out of the week and don't have as much time as I like to be courted.
Oh, yes! Of course! Any time I see them I make the effort to engage them in intelligent and thoughtful conversation. And I always look my best, so they can find no fault with my appearance and perhaps will even fancy it.
*conspiratorially* I have even heard whispers that I am considered one of the prettiest girls working at the mill - but I shan't let myself get too arrogant, that wouldn't be becoming in the slightest.
