Are you sure?

Absolutely sure. If you and I started dating and it didn't go so well, I'd still be your friend and not in the 'oh we'll still be friends but never call' way. I would still come over to your place to watch bad horror movies and eat Thai food. I'd still stay up late chatting on the phone or whatever.

I'm loyal to the people I care about and I care about you a lot. *realizes she said a lot for her and blushes, looking at her boots*

Yeah, but it's easy to say that before we've done anything, what if things change and you don't want to be my friend any more because of it? Then what? Then I don't have a good friend or a pretty girlfriend and I'm pretty much used to the not having a girlfriend thing, I don't want to not have a good friend that I really like.

*is obviously seriously concerned about this*

You will always have me, Marcus. I promise you. I know I can promise this because the people that I do care for, I'm loyal to.

*thinks about her wording very carefully* If another guy asks me out I'd like to be able to honestly state that I'm taken. By you. Hell, I'd be proud to call you my boyfriend. *and she's blushing again and praying that she didn't just say the stupid thing or put too much pressure on him because she faaaaails at this sort of thing*

Why do you want to me to be your boyfriend and not one of those other guys? *so leery of being sucker punched emotionally for a second time* Are you after my movie collection? *ans even more afraid to let anyone know that so...goofball it is* or do you just want my Fruit Loop?

Because the other guys I've met are superficial and stupid and love showing off and everything is about them. When I'm around you, its about us. About the time we spend together and there's no pressure to be something I'm not.

You at least are honest. I don't know that most other guys I've met are as confident as they pretend to be and that drives me nuts.

You being who you are is what makes you someone I want to maybe date. There's a reason I don't have a girlfriend, you know.
