I agree with your assessment, yet considering my affinity for Beethoven, I'm not sure how unique it makes me to acquire something else for my collection.
You mean... it's not as thoughtful/extraordinary as I would've originally assumed, seeing as your Beethoven admiration is well known? Well, I still think the gift itself -- a Beethoven bust wearing clock-sunglasses!! -- is unprecedented and therefore awesome!
I don't want to seem ungrateful. I think the bust is fantastic. What I'm saying is that I'm starting to acquire quite the collection. I don't want to become the equal of a cat lady.
Oh! Haha, I know what you mean. When I was a little girl, I was really self conscious about my red hair, so my parents always ALWAYS bought me redhaired dolls. I had literally three dozen of them at one point. Not exactly the same thing, but close. Once people know you like/want one particular type of item, they might tend to fall back on that when it comes to gifts.
I don't think this was a case of "falling back on" anything. This was a gift from a friend who knows me better than anyone else. He understands what I'd like, regardless of any complaints. Nothing in my Beethoven collection as of yet tells time or wears sunglasses.
As for the dolls, you said you were self conscious but you never said if you liked them. Did you?
Well, I'm glad you like the gift, then. I think it's certainly neat. Is it an alarm clock? If so, does it play Beethoven for the alarm?
I liked the dolls alright. It got to the point where the bright red plastic locks were the norm in our household, which meant that my one brunette doll was prized simply because she was different. Which, of course!, my parents interpreted as meaning I wasn't happy with my red hair, which led to more redheaded cabbage patch dolls.
I so did! Never thought about it like that, but I suppose so. I had a few blonde dolls, but I remember coloring their hair green, haha! Or chopping it all off. I'm sorry!
You would rather have unnatural colors than blonde? Oh my shallow sense of value that was tied up entirely in my appearance has flown out the window. What am I to do?

It's a really cool present, anyway. :) I didn't even know they made Beethoven clocks!

Apparently they do. I like it.

Haha, you had a Ginger Farm. Where were the blondes in all of this? Such mistreatment of my people.
