I'll say. The closer an upcoming movie about costumed superheroes comes, the more fondly I look back on when I first read the comic books that inspired the film.
Well they certainly did admirable work. I like the dynamic between them. It's very real reading about the flaws and tensions between them, a departure from the stiff, static partnerships in the old Justice League comics.
Those old time fucking comics never did show it the way it really happened.
ooc: By the way, I also have ellectric_girl, just wanted to thank you for recommending Slumdog Millionaire to me because...WOW. I've now seen it four times.
Well yeah! That's largely what made you guys such a great team. You were the more human, both in identity and behavior, than most of the other major superhero teams, and so you were more compelling.
OOC: I'm very glad you liked Slumdog Millionaire. It's definitely a blast to watch, and I think it's the second most deserving (though the most destined to win) out of all the main Oscar nominees just behind Milk. If you haven't seen Milk, go see Milk. It's a brilliant piece of filmmaking.
You're awfully complimentary. You looking for an autograph?
ooc: Unfortunately Slumdog is the only one of the "Oscar" movies I've seen, but Milk is next on my list. Actually, it, The Reader, and Revolutionary Road are the only other ones I'm interested in.
We were the american dream. Proof that you don't need to have superpowers to be a hero and do what's right. That you really can be anything you want to be.
And yet, in spite of your success in doing that, you're constantly struggling against a dark and chaotic society, an increasingly cold and cynical world view, and problems both toward and within the superhero community. How do you persevere and continue to have faith in what you do?
Well, you probably know I hung up my cape when I had my little girl. It does get hard when the people you're saving no longer want to be saved, but you keep going because you know you're doing what's right. Whether they wanted it or not, there are people out there who are alive right now because of us.
And you're a woman that's watched over more than one generation of caped heroes and people that struggle to fight the good fight. You've had a full career and it's anyone's guess what the future of the super team is...What do you know for sure?
I'm not sure a "team" is what the world needs anymore. I mean, look at the Watchmen. They all did better when they were on their own. With the exception of Night Owl and that freak Rorschach. The Keene act forced most of them out of submission, but hopefully there's a few out there who aren't afraid to show the government their faces so they can keep fighting.

Not like anybody sold out more than that Veidt kid anyway.
Re: So very meta:
Well let's face it, as much of a slap in the face as it is to principles and ideology, superheroes are about as profitable a market as it gets.
Re: So very meta:
Yeah, but we can be profitable without marketing our own clothes, hair care products, and cologne.
