I just don't see the point! You get this tiny silver of a crust, and a whole mess of stuff that doesn't taste all that great on its on, let alone when combined with quasi-pastry.
Its a balance of crust and inner juicy, fruity goodness. Its a perfect combination of bland and sweet, plain on the outside but colorful inside. Pie is homey, and old fashioned. Its familiar. Its criminal to not like pie.
