My plan is to get out of a sticky situation I found myself in.

My other plans were fairly--crap. But this one should work.

It's kind of a long story...I mean I don't mind telling it, but I'd hate to take up your time.

I used to be a djinn. Just a few months ago, in point of fact. A fire elemental, bound to the Philosopher's Stone.

Well, I made the mistake of "tricking" a vampire into making a wish--and this did not go over so well with his sire. Aforementioned sire took me to his lawyers and had me put into human form for a week--sans powers.

As that week passed I started to make friends with the very people I had sort of tormented up until that point. And I knew once I went back to my other form I wouldn't be happy with what had been going on--and that I might--

*cough*

So I asked for antoher few centuries of humanity. Only problem is nothing is free....so I'm in debted to not only the vampire I talked about, but also his lawyers.

What is your plan?

You see--the problem is that currently I'm--owned by the vampire. When the end of these few centuries comes I'm supposed to go work for his lawyer's law firm.

My plan is to get out of all of this by just flat out giving my powers to the law firm--so they can give them to someone already on staff. That way, I don't end up working for them for eternity and they don't end up with an office full of weasels.

--Don't ask. It's something I'd do though.

I see. Couldn't you find a way to pay off your debt and therefore have better use for your powers?

Well I'm still without my powers right now.....and if I were to get them back there's always the chance I might hurt those I care about.

That is why caring is not a good idea.

I'm afraid I'm rather fond of them now.

The 'other you' sounds more interesting.

Interesting is an adjective I'm not sure anyone's ever used to describe my past self.

Bastard, smarmy, snarky, etc. yes, but "interesting" is a new one.

I am curious. What do you mean by 'wishes'?

Part of being a djinn.
You grant wishes.

Granted you attempt to screw the person over (figuratively speaking) while doing so, for laughs. But....yeah.

How does it work?

Typically--the person making the wish agrees to make a contract with me.

Usually I'd ask for their immortal soul, but it'd vary for those without actual souls--

I'd give them exactly what they'd ask for--but usually twist it a bit so they were miserable.

So it is an exchange where the person thinks they are geting what they want but they really aren't.

Yeah, and I do appreciate the irony of the situation on some level....
