How d'you know you've grown up?

When you stop believing in happy endings.

Is that all?

Maybe not for everyone, but that did the trick for me.

Perhaps it's different for everyone?

Perhaps.

But in my experience? Disillusionment often does the trick.

I dunno if we ever do.

That may be so.

But then people always talk about growing up and all that.

Yeah, I think it's kind of selective or something. Like, my dad will do that whole 'it's called being an adult' lecture thing, but then he says he never really grew up inside.

And then sometimes my father says he'd rather I stay young for his whole life. *chuckles*

Hah, I think dad's are like that with their kids a lot. Especially daughters, I reckon.

Well, I mean to say when my father comes out of his office. He's usually cooped up there, trying to write.

He's a busy guy then, huh?

You're on your own, paying your own way, and going home isn't an option anymore.
