Does everything happen for a reason?

Is completely random a better thought?

I used to, but I don't anymore. I used to just believe crappy things happened and it just was.

I've learned there's usually a reason, and you don't want to know about it.

Just because you can't explain them? Doesn't mean they lack explaination. That is something I'm still working on but I believe in it.

[identity profile] gardino.livejournal.com 2008-01-07 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
Hell, I hope not.

[identity profile] gardino.livejournal.com 2008-01-07 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
It'd be stupid. Murphy's law is bad enough already. Also, I'm a fan of free will and all that stuff.

[identity profile] gardino.livejournal.com 2008-01-07 10:59 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not for this reasonable cause stuff. Why does everything have to be profound and deep?

'cause if everything happens for a reason, why bother? Kinda makes it unimportant if something good or bad happens. AND takes away the possibility of being pissed off at bad things.

Besides, when everything happens for a reason, the word reason's invalid, 'cause there'd be no more non-reason stuff. Or something.

Holy shit, it's far too early and sober for me to be so frekin' philosophical.

[identity profile] gardino.livejournal.com 2008-01-08 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well, maybe we wouldn't like the explanation anyway.

*chuckles* I think I take the beer.

[identity profile] gardino.livejournal.com 2008-01-09 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Can't argue about that. *takes the can* Thanks, man. Louis Gardino, Chicago PD. So who's the deep thinker?

[identity profile] gardino.livejournal.com 2008-01-17 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, I didn't bring up my detective title so far, doc. *grins* And yeah, I do.

[identity profile] gardino.livejournal.com 2008-01-26 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
*snorts* Would have had this nice James Bond or tv shows touch, yeah.

[identity profile] vivo-per-ardua.livejournal.com 2008-01-07 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
It is my belief that it's as such.

[identity profile] vivo-per-ardua.livejournal.com 2008-01-07 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
Somewhat. Moreso out of personal belief.

[identity profile] vivo-per-ardua.livejournal.com 2008-01-09 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
I've had a lot of... some would call them terrible - things happen to me in my life. As I reflect back on them, I realize I wouldn't be the same person I am now if they hadn't happened. I wouldn't be a detective, and all the good I've done never would've occurred.

[identity profile] make-a-miracle.livejournal.com 2008-01-08 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, minor correction. Everything happens for a purpose. Whether there's rhyme or reason behind it ... a lot of the time it's just difficult to see.

[identity profile] make-a-miracle.livejournal.com 2008-01-08 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
To an extent. Your purpose is decided by the choices you make in life.

*soft smirk* Yeah, what else is new?

[identity profile] make-a-miracle.livejournal.com 2008-01-08 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
*smile* Exactly! Finally, someone gets it.

Let's just say I make it my business to know.

[identity profile] make-a-miracle.livejournal.com 2008-01-08 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
That's usually how it works.

*chuckle* Nope.

[identity profile] make-a-miracle.livejournal.com 2008-01-09 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Management.
