What's "that"?

There's a lot more to life than anyone seems to realise.

Mm. To be fair, life is generally pretty short. But that's hardly an excuse.

That's why you should always make the most of it!

Than romance. ...And its associated activities.

There is.

But it's worthless without having someone to share it.

Absolutely. Just don't see why people think love means less if it isn't sexual. Love is love, to me.

I agree.

Though, really, I can't imagine having a love that isn't sexual, at least not a love that would make things as bright as that kind of love does.

I... I really wouldn't know. About that.

Just seems like people think life means less if there isn't any romantic love in it. As if the love of friends and family isn't just as or more valuable.

Have you ever been in romantic love?

No. I don't need to be, to be a whole person.

Maybe you'd understand better if you tried it?

What's the point of living if you're going to pass something as wonderful as love by?

I can't. It's personal.

But if you ever can, there's nothing in the world that feels better (or worse), than love.

So I've heard.

But, in the end, you might be better off.

Sometimes I'd rather give up my past loves to get rid of the pain they left behind.

Maybe. But you'd also lose everything you learned from it.

I don't particularly need to know most of the things I learned from my lovers, if I'm not going to have any.

And 'men suck' isn't necessarily the kind of lesson I needed to learn.

People seem so happy to settle... makes no sense at all. Why don't people ever want more out of life than somebody to do it with?

'Cause loneliness can be pretty horrible? Big things and little things, that's what makes it worth it.

I'm not lonely.

I'm up to my eyeballs in friends and family. Got more than I could ever ask for, and I'm thankful for it every day. And people still act like all of it isn't worth spit 'cuz I'm not getting laid.

So yeah, I'm a little bitter. But I'm not lonely.

Do you have a problem with not... y'know?

Well, then what's the fuss about?

Of course not! But you're not human. Nobody'd expect you to behave the same way as humans normally do towards... that kind of stuff. ~~Except for some of your companions, which is honestly a little bit mind boggling to me.~~

I'm a fairy tale. I don't age, I don't die. Can't get too attached to ~~real people~~ normal people. Why bother with it all? It's too complicated and too ridiculous and it can only end badly.

That's the idea. Doesn't always work out. ~~Yeah, well. They're only human.~~

You're asking me about complicated and ridiculous? I have a time machine that looks like a phone box.

How so? ~~You'd think after seeing the universe and meeting all kinds of different kinds of life forms they'd put two and two together! Is it just me? Am I giving too much credit to humanity, here?~~

People keep getting surprised when I don't do what they expect me to do. ~~Humanity's young yet. Few hundred more years and the race'll be a bit more seasoned.~~

That's just silly. How could anything you do be predictable? ~~I suppose I'll be there when it happens. Not like I've got much of a choice!~~

You've got the bonus of not being human. You're supposed to have a life as long as you do. Every part of me wants to surround myself with the people I love and make a family I can live with until I die, but I can't.

Most beings in the universe prefer an existence when things behave at least more or less as they think. Helps keep things simple. ~~It's an amazing thing, watching a species mature.~~

Guess it all boils down to if the little but happy time you could have is worth it. Personal choice, of course.
