(no subject)

It is happening all over again.

((Couldn't keep him away, this can all be meta if you'd like))

Judgment day?

He frowns and sighs wearily.

Then I have failed. I suppose it was naive to think we could stop it.

He hesitates at the question, but because this boy seems to know, perhaps his story might not sound so fantastic.

Sargent Kyle Reese 132nd.

His heart practically freezes in his chest when he hears the name.

John ... Connor?

It takes a moment for him to get beyond the shock. He forces his head to nod.

Military. From the future.

I was sent by ... my commanding officer when the first of them came though. My primary objective was to protect Sarah Connor. I had hoped by intervening we might have stopped judgment day.

He swallows hard. Is your mother okay?

[identity profile] times-soldier.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
I did. I didn't expect to ever see her again or you, when the mission was over.

[identity profile] times-soldier.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
It's ... we ... He falters.

I didn't know your mother very long, but in the time we had together, we were close.

[identity profile] times-soldier.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
He smiles back slightly.

All hope isn't lost. Is there anything I can do for you, sir?

[identity profile] times-soldier.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, John.

Another hard swallow and a moment was taken to steady himself again.

No, you aren't. Not yet anyway.

Reese reaches out and puts a comforting hand on his son's soldier. He gives it a gentle squeeze.

Maybe you will, maybe you wont. The future isn't set John, if your mother can stop it, you'll never have to be.

Don't get wrapped up in the future and things that other people have told you. Just live. When the time comes, you'll play the role you are meant to have.

((Should be shoulder up there and not soldier, I blame the sleep deprivation that was setting at the time >>))

Reese frowns.

The war against the machines seems to have started early for some. You are no less deserving of a normal life then anyone else. I'm ... sorry that you got caught up in this.

[identity profile] times-soldier.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You didn't cause any of this, all you've ever tried to do was make it better.

[identity profile] times-soldier.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
He smiles a weary smile. If it's any consolation, I didn't go school either.

The John Connor I knew, wasn't the greatest tactical strategist I ever met. There were better soldiers and marksmen, but nobody was a better leader. I was proud to serve him.

No, things eroded very quickly after judgment day. Everything is gray and ashy where I come from. There are very few buildings that hadn't been destroyed. People were slaves. It was a very dark time.

He nods slowly. Really. Someday people, including me, will look up to you.
