You read about it all the time in the papers. It's the sign of the times, isn't it.
We live in a society which thinks everyone is entitled to having, what we want and right now. People don't bother about the consequences later. Rather than face them, deal with them, it's easier to dispose of the offending item and move on, or simply ignore it.
It's not meant to judge the mother's actions, we don't know the circumstances why. But the trend to abandon a life, or things once they outwear the useful/shinny factor is disturbing.
I hope welfare can help the mother if they find her, and the baby.
It really can be kind of depressing. A colleague of mine deals with it much more in this aspect, but the general lack of concern for anything seems to be growing all the time. But then again, maybe it's just time for a day off.
It's funny isn't it, we can express out disgust at a baby being abandon but if we have to express our feelings, admit it's depressing, we say other things cause us to feel that way.
It's okay, to say it's depressing and it gets to you. You don't need an excuse, why.

Perhaps I should curse the parent if they are responsible.

*smiles* Well, you are as well or it wouldn't bother you so much.
Do you have children?

I have a daughter, Rachel.
Unfortunately it looks like I have some more work to take care of.
*Speaking as he's off to the next bit of ER business*
Nice chatting with you.

At least she's okay. And in good hands.
