I presume, sir, that you are speaking of the necessity for some individuals to change their names to avoid harm and/or notoriety. I agree with you that it is difficult, but if those with whom you have everyday dealings are unfamiliar with your past, it is quite simple. It also helps to live in a rather secluded area, where the locals are in their own little world. There will always be gossip, surely, but nothing anyone can prove.
That makes more sense. Well, I always thought the masks and outfits were pretty lame anyway, especially capes, whoever thought those were cool, is sadly mistaken.
Sometimes you have to use your 'powers' to do what you can, regardless of if people believe you or not. Sometimes it's more important to do what you can and not worry about other people....I think.
The capes aren't cool, they're dangerous. They can get caught in things, and people can grab onto them. I've put way too much thought into this stuff, and it all seems so pointless.
I don't care if people believe or not. I just... the logistics of getting a costume and working a secret identity well enough so no one really knows... it's not like in movies or comics. And since no one believes that there are people with powers, I don't see why I should bother.
In my opinion, I think I would be more freaked out to see someone in a costume then to see them with super powers...but that is just me. Your right it isn't like in the movies but from experience, if you have to keep a secret, an important one, you always can. It's hard, but you have to right?
That's what I mean. If I tell someone that last night I stopped a bank robbery by crashing through the wall, taking the robbers by surprise, and using my heat vision to make their guns too hot to hold, they laugh at me.
Jeez, kiddo, anybody coulda told you that people are remarkably good at convincing themselves that what's in front of their eyes isn't real. Don't need a mask for that.
Well, I'm from Kansas, so I don't really need to explain much. Just a smile and a shrug. Feels a little like lying, somehow.

'Course, it causes trouble when I gotta renew my driver's license...

Why?

Well, "Dorothy Gale". I gotta bring about four proofs of ID with me everywhere just to convince people! God forbid I get pulled over.

I just tell people that my parents were big comic book fans. They leave me alone after that.
