My cousin has come to work at the same newspaper as me. She went from not even being able to use spellcheck on her computer to getting bylines in about 8 months time.
*shakes her head*
I'm happy for her -- but at the same time? I worked my ass off for eight years to get here.
Some people have luck while other people must work harder to achieve the same thing. What does it mean to you that she was able to achieve this in eight months?
Nothing really. I know it doesn't diminish anything I've done and I am glad Lois is figuring out her niche. It was just easier when we weren't playing in the same sandbox.
Lois and I have always been naturally competitive. Really competitive. We're more like sisters than cousins. So it just felt easier for us to both be doing separate things. Now we're working around each other and that old competition's starting to creep in to our off work relationship too.
It's complicated. I do a bit of -- freelance type work and there have been times when Lois is working on a story that involves me only she doesn't know it and things get sticky.
I love Lois, a lot. But living with her is very temporary. We'd make each other crazy if we kept it up for much longer. So I'm looking for an apartment closer to work and Met U campus.

I know it's silly.

No, it's how you feel. You shouldn't dismiss that.

Metropolis isn't as big as it ought to be. We also have the same friends and happen to be living together.

You do sound more like sisters than cousins. Are you happy by these arrangements?
