What exactly are the N.E.W.T.s?

~~Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests~~ They're...a form of University tests.

Oh, okay. I've decided not to go to University, so that's probably why I don't know it.

*Frowns* But why would you not go to University? That's severely limiting your career opportunities, you know.

I don't need it. I'm already in the career I want to do, so why waste time getting a degree I will never use. I didn't even know what I wanted when I was graduating from High School.

You don't know that you won't! One day, you might just need something the university teaches, you know. Isn't it better to have the knowledge and not need it, than to need it and not have it?

The knowledge that I need for my job can't be taught at University. My big brother is technically my teacher. Besides, there's plenty of time. I can go later if I decide to.

*Annd now her interest is piqued* Really? What job is it?

Yeah, it is. It's very interesting.

Haven't you read the Prophet lately? They're seriously considering closing the school now. If it gets much worse than it is now, there won't be any exams to take.

Well yes...but they've considered closing the school lots of times from what I've heard and they never have. Hoqwarts is one of the safest places in the wizarding world.

Hogwarts was. Now that Dumbledore...the parents are scared, and so are the teachers. *Frowns, and crosses arms* Haven't you been paying attention over the summer?

Of course I have! *Apparently not -- she's been spending a good deal of the summer piecing together just what happened at the end of last term, coming to terms with it all*
