(no subject)

Nothing like a quiet Sunday in.

They can be quite relaxing.

Lazy. I'm sprawled on the couch with a book. It's a good thing I don't have anywhere to be as getting off the couch would take a while. *smirks*

How is your day so far?

I'm on my way that's certain. *sighs and pats her belly* I lost sight of my feet a few weeks ago, and I'm not even halfway through the pregnancy yet.

What journals are you reading?

It is always good to stay current when you can. *nods*

I'm reading a mystery novel set in Egypt at the turn of the 19th/20th century The Ape Who Guards the Balance (http://www.amazon.com/Ape-Who-Guards-Balance-Peabody/dp/0380798565/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1249252763&sr=8-16). I've been enjoying the series quite a bit.

*nods* You'd like it, the heroes are a family of Archeologists.

It is mostly written in first person from the perspective of the main heroine, but the later books also have her son as the point of view character as he gets older.

Very entertaining writing style!

I don't really know, to tell you the truth. I don't know that much about archeology.

The author apparently is an Egyptologist though, so I would imagine it is fairly accurate.

It is amusing, the main characters are fairly scathing in their critiques on the methods of some of the other archeologists of the time.

I guess they have a more 'modern' outlook on archeology than was typically the case back then.

Eighteen so far, it would seem.

The author has been writing them since the 1970's, so you have plenty of time. *grins*

I think it turned into her full time job. From what I understand, there weren't a lot of job openings for women at the time she first started writing.

Your novels are enjoyable to read, but obviously not your true calling.

No, I honestly can't imagine. It makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Thankfully it isn't like that now! Imagine what would have been lost if you'd been relegated to 'secretary' or driven out of the profession altogether.
