The Journal of Forensic Anthropology, the latest edition of the Jeffersonian magazine, Anthropology Quarterly. They have gotten backed up lately, so it is nice to catch up.
It is always good to stay current when you can. *nods*
I'm reading a mystery novel set in Egypt at the turn of the 19th/20th century The Ape Who Guards the Balance (http://www.amazon.com/Ape-Who-Guards-Balance-Peabody/dp/0380798565/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1249252763&sr=8-16). I've been enjoying the series quite a bit.
It is mostly written in first person from the perspective of the main heroine, but the later books also have her son as the point of view character as he gets older.
That is probably true. Back then women in fields like ours were still being relegated to assistant or secretary positions for the most part. *rolls her eyes" Can you imagine? I would have written books too over being some assistant.
No, I honestly can't imagine. It makes no sense to me whatsoever.
Thankfully it isn't like that now! Imagine what would have been lost if you'd been relegated to 'secretary' or driven out of the profession altogether.

The author apparently is an Egyptologist though, so I would imagine it is fairly accurate.

I guess they have a more 'modern' outlook on archeology than was typically the case back then.

Your novels are enjoyable to read, but obviously not your true calling.
