*looks up from script* Hm? Oh...*shakes his head* Nope, I'm afraid not. It's a scene from The Dueling Cavalier...
Doesn't sound too...too...I'm not sure, but it's "too" something.

The Dueling Cavalier? That sounds more like a Harlequin novel. Too dramatic? Too ridiculous?

Too wordy, I believe was what I was going for. But then again, I'm not used to this kind of memorization.
It's a film set in the ye olden days of powdered wigs and dashing swordsmen. *goes into his hero acting mode* I play the lead, Pierre *bows with a flourish* who falls madly in love with...with... *can't seem to remember, checks the script again* I'm never going to get this right. This never would have happened if we'd stuck to making silent pictures...

[seems pretty amused with his act] Nice to meet you, Pierre.

Uh, they stopped making silent films decades ago.

*smiles enigmatically* Call me Don, the real name is Don Lockwood. Former vaudvillian turned stunt man and finally the dashing hero actor you see before you...if I ever get my lines right that is.

*confused* The Jazz Singer only just came out, that was the first talking picture I'm familiar with. And I live in Hollywood, I'm sure our exec would have heard something before then, R.H. is connected like that.

Well, Mr. Lockwood, I'm Elisa Maza. [offers him a hand] Just a New York cop here.

Oh, well. [thinks to herself this must be the Phoenix Gate at work] I guess I got my information wrong then.

*shakes her hand with another more informal bow* A pleasure to meet you Miss Maza. *raises an eyebrow, he's never heard of a female cop before* The police force is getting prettier these days. I hope there's no trouble around here that you're investigating.

*as an aside, slightly worried* If it's Lena saying stuff...believe me, she can be a bit....off her rocker sometimes. I'd talk to the PR rep before you talk to her.

Nice to meet you too, Mr. Lockwood. [rueful smile] I'm actually not sure why I'm here just yet.
