Why is that?

I think...no, I strongly believe that I can help someone I love. Someone struggling with something beyond me. My family and friends think I'm crazy. I'm starting to believe they're right.

If you can help them, then why does it matter what your family and friends think? You have to try.

Oh, I am trying! My very hardest. I just don't know what else I can do for him...and he doesn't want my help. He can barely stand to look at me anymore.

What's his problem?

He...well he has a pretty big problem with the bottle and in turn keepin' his hands to himself.

No. No, you're not. Maybe a little mixed up but who isn't?

Seems like everyone else around here has their head on straight, you know? They're going off and experiencing new things and I'm stuck here...in this pattern. This pattern of helping people I can't help and attempting to meet impossible expectations.

Pfft. The only people who say they have their heads on straight are flat-out lying. And that's a fact.

...just the fact that you try to help says so much about you as a person.

The fact that I feel like giving up some days...doesn't that say something about me too?

Well here we go again with you being selfless and sweet as pie. I'm just feeling flustered today is all. The southern accent seems to get thicker when I'm frustrated...all the effort I've put into getting rid of it seems wasted. *Laughs quietly despite herself* But that's enough of that. How are you doing?

It's fine, really. S'okay to get flustered. And I don't mind the accent at all. Most of my family's from the South.

I'm doing okay. Nothing real interesting going on with me; c'est la suburbs, I guess.

I'm down there every so often- it's pretty fun. I kinda wilt in the heat, though.

I try my best to forget about that detail, but every so often the memories of the heat catch up with me. I don't think I'd have been able to survive without free reign over the air conditioning.

Yeah. I live in Washington, so it's pretty rainychilly usually... too much humidity is hazardous to my health.

We-eellll... so basically? Coming-of-age, blah blah, boarding school, blah blah. But it's kind of a psychodrama.
