Well, that doesn't bode well. Why can't you trust him?

He has this... room, in the basement. I don't know what he does in there, but he always keeps it locked... and he refuses to tell me anything about it.

That sounds pretty ominious...

I... I don't know. Part of me thinks I'm overreacting... what could be possibly have in there? But part of me wonders why he's so secretive. Sometimes he'll give me some stupid excuse about a 'side project', but I don't buy it.

If your gut's telling you whatever he's doing is untrustworthy? Go with your gut.

What do you think I should do? Confronting him hasn't gotten me anywhere.

I'd advise going somewhere else. Any relatives you can stay with?

I... my mother. I could take Katherine and go there... but Fred. He'd never let me take her away from him.

Then maybe call the police? This is sounding more dangerous by the minute.

What am I supposed to tell them -- my husband happens to have a private room in the basement that I've never been in?

I just mean... Katherine's a Daddy's girl. And she's his daughter -- if he tried to take her from me, I'd do everything I could to stop him too.
