Any particular cause for this cheeriness?

Beautiful day today, spent way too much money, and a boy of all things. Well not a boy, boy.

*laughs* Usually shopping gives me a splitting headache. Too much crap associated with doing so. But beautiful weather is nice. Guys can be as well, for the most part.

Sometimes it does for me too, when you have to look for something, or Christmas shopping. Jesus Christ what a pain. Yup, I'm enjoying the last two.

Ain't that the truth? Not many things make me shiver in fear - shopping does so, though. This a new boy in your life?

And the politics involved, and the assholes who stand in the middle of the aisle and don't MOVE! Or in front of revolving doors, escalators, etc. Mmm, we were friends first, I always had a crush, but . . . you know.

God, I absolutely hate when that happens. It's like, lead, follow, or get the fuck outta my way! Aah, yes, I know how that is. Had one of those scenarios. My brothers roommate in college. I was 15, he was 20, so it was weird and illegal then, so nothing happened. But we were into each other. Over ten years later, we started a relationship.

Seriously! In what world is it okay to stop right in front of a LINE of moving people? Oh man, ten years is a long ass time to wait, was it worth the wait?

Clearly they have a blatant disregard for others. It was a long time, but a lot happened in that time - was in an eight year relationship, had a baby, was engaged, among a long list of other things. Umm, hm. Was it worth the wait? I guess. Being with him was wonderful, for the most part. But, as Aimee Mann would put it, "the exit was crude".

Clearly they need a god damn smack, or run over. Wow, eight years is a long time I am sorry to hear about the unhappy ending though.

Most definitely. It was a long time, but it definitely didn't feel as long as it was. *weak smile* I had work and my daughter, he had the Army.

It never does. When you're in it everything creeps by and when you look back it was like a blink of an eye. God that has to be hard, I can't even imagine.

Ain't that the truth? Feels like just yesterday I had my daughter and was planning my wedding. Yea, but you, pardon the pun, soldier on.

Ba-da-da-dum. *Rim shot.* You do, it's never easy, but you do.

*laughs* God, don't remind me. La-di-da weddings were never my thing, and that's all he wanted. *nods* Mhm. Nothing that time doesn't help, though.

How long have you known this boy?

Well it's your damn day do what you want with it. They say that time heals all wounds, I think we just go numb, or forget.

A few months but we went on our first "Date" was Sunday.

His too. Obviously, we weren't right for each other. But I wouldn't trade that time for anything. My daughter was a result of that whole thing. Can't say I've done either.

Ooh? That's nice. He's a good guy?

How old is she? What's her name? Also: How did you know you weren't right for each other?

Honestly he's probably one of the nicest, good guys I've ever met. They even pay him to be a good guy.

Her name is Livia, and she'll be nine in less than two weeks. Um, it's kind of long and complex, but the gist of it is that neither of us were willing to budge on one big issue, one that compromise couldn't solve. He couldn't handle what I do for a living, and I wasn't willing to up and quit and become Susie Homemaker for him.

That's great. There aren't many out there, so finding one is always a good thing.

Livia, that's such a pretty name, I bet she lives up to it and is probably just like her mom. Mmmm that is a real, real big issue. What do you do for a living?

I know there seems to be an abundance of assholes in New York.

Thank you. She's named after my mom. Dunno if her being like me is a good thing or a bad thing half the time. It was definitely a huge issue. I'm a cop.

Far too many of them for sure. Maybe it's the water here.

Well I figure you haven't been mean to me yet and you've got a good head on your shoulders - I figure it's a good thing. Small world, so is he, how long have you been a cop?

*laughs* Why would I be mean to ya? I don't hit major bitch-mode unless someone finds a way to push my buttons. Thanks. Oh wow, it is a small world. I've been a cop for almost twelve years now, a detective for almost ten of those twelve.

I've been to a few other places, haven't found as many assholes. Hell, in Italy, it's all love and food and wine. Well, for the most part, anyway.

I'm certainly not trying to push your buttons or anything, but who knows. What made you want to be a cop?

Mmm I studied in Italy for awhile, it was quite an experience.

You're not, no worries. Um, both of my parents were cops. My dad was the captain of a Homicide Unit, my mom was a sergeant in the Robbery Unit. Just kinda in my blood.

I have some family over there, so I make a point to visit every now and then. Did you enjoy studying abroad?
