Dean hadn't realized that he'd started being Castiel's ward again. It'd been years since Castiel was even considered someone who could protect him and he just kept the future version of him around because of loyalty. Because he needed him right there with him even in the future because only having strangers around got tiring to him. The future version of the hunter was well acquainted with the craziness of their future.

"N-No..." He didn't want Cas to leave him. He knew it'd just get worse on him as he kissed his cheek. "I want you to stay here. With me."

Castiel closed an eye when Dean kissed his cheek. He looked up to the hunter and gave that hint of his almost smile as he tilted his head, his eyes seeming to shine in the light. His expression was gentle, just as were his touches to Dean as he rested his hand over the hunters heart.

"Then I shall stay, by your side. As long as you wish me to."
