I don't know exactly why, but the djinn thing could explain it. I mean, your kind gives out wishes without any thought to who should get them! It's bad for business. Not my business anymore, but still.

Only if we're Obligated to.

Believe me, it isn't any picnic to be Obliged to grant the wish of every person who either breaks a seal if you're trapped, summons you, or knows your True Name.

Currently the only exceptions to that rule are my Foster Mom and my girlfriend. They can have whatever they want.
