"Mmmhmm. At least I'll be able to get through the festival". He murmurs with with a shrug.

"Kind of a shame because I would really have liked to see you and Lindsay meet. . ."

"Who or what is Lindsay?"

"Lindsay Lohan."

"If the choice is between meeting a dirty looking pop starlette or laying on a beach, I'd take the beach every time."

"She is at Cannes. You could eat meet her!"

"Ill pass. She looks like she'd taste salty if you put your tongue on her."

"Isn't it me that's supposed to be keeping track of the date?"

"You are". He says casually. "Anything important I've been missing out on while I've been at Cannes?"

"Other than my own personal vacation? Not really." She smiled, teasing him. "Just the same drama that's always happening in this industry. You do have a few interviews, but nothing out of the ordinary."

She observes him for a moment and then adds, "Maybe I should ask you what I missed out on. You seem tired."

Lawrence who is normally never at a loss for words, looks like he has no idea how to answer that.

"It's been a crazy week."

She tilts her head and then moves closer, taking a seat beside him. "Lawrence, what's wrong? Something's the matter. I know I haven't been around much, but please tell me."

Lawrence shakes his head.

"There's not much to tell yet, but when I know, you will too."

Gwen's forehead creases when she sees him shaking his head. She hates when he's stubborn like this.

"All right then," she surrenders. "Just know that I'm always here. I want to help -- whatever it might be."

She might hate his stubborn side, but he's willing to bet he hates keeping things from her even more.

"Gwen ..." He can't seem to say her name without it coming out light and breathy. "I don't feel like I have to tell you there's been something missing in my life for a long time. The endless partying didn't make it go away, but it was easier to ignore. And now that I've removed that element I've been really lonely."

He doesn't know what he's trying to say. He's not even sure what he wants to say. "There's a girl and things have been moving fast."

Er... excuse me, sir? May I have a look at that calendar when you finish?

[He moves to take it, but then flinches away and looks up sharply at the stranger's words.]

Why do you assume that's what I need to know?

Lawrence shrugs.

"It just seems like when people are keeping track of lunar dates, they're not trying to figure out when the next waxing crescent is."

[He looks at him suspiciously.]

But why would anyone look for a full moon? Lunar months start on the new moon.

"The full moon has a strange effect on people." Lawrence says with a small bittersweet smile. "It's been proven, for instance, that crime rates all spike during the full moon."

"Not at all." He says with a shrug. "I'm mearly pointing out that there are reasons to keep track, you know? I tend to feel ill personally."

"Of course". He murmurs, passing the calender to the young man. "Thursday is the full moon."
