Oh, you're on tour right now? Blimey, you don't have to play a gig on your birthday, do you? Or, well, hmm, actually, now I think about it, you'd probably enjoy that, huh? 'cause it's what you do!
The size of the shows vary but the average size of the shows we've been doing this tour are between ten to twenty thousand people. Yeah, they always sing happy birthday. We do it during any of our birthdays, anyone in our back up band or in our family and usually bring the person out and bring out a cake and everything. We celebrate a lot of things on stage with our fans. Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations... Anything big that happens in our lives, we like to share with the fans basically.
I have three brothers but two of them are in the band with me. My oldest brother Kevin is married so he spends most of his free time with his wife and Joe and I are pretty much always together.
Ohhh! I didn't think they'd be old enough to be married! Although you're eighteen and you are, so I'm not sure why I'm surprised really! But that's cool! I have an older brother too, Colin! It's fun to hang out together -- I mean, like, friends are cool, but family is family, you know?
I'm thirteen, and Colin's practically sixteen! Twenty three doesn't seem that young to be married; I mean, that's old enough to have finished a degree and gotten your first job and everything! It's a little young to have kids, maybe, but you must be pretty rich if you have such huge concerts, I'd assume, which means he could be home a lot more than someone just starting out! Um, which isn't to say that love isn't important, because it really is, but it's good to be practical too!
That's like the age difference between Joe and I ::smiles:: He doesn't plan on having kids just yet, their one year anniversary is in December. It's still a little early. We have the money sure, but we're always so busy with the band or our TV show or movies or charity work or promotional work that he wouldn't have much time to raise a baby so I think that's another main reason they're waiting. Being practical is very good.
Yep! Babies are cool too, though! I'd like to have kids, I think! I mean, when I'm much older, I wanna finish school properly first and get a job, but after that! And then Colin would be Uncle Colin, which'd be pretty awesome!
Those are very good goals to have. I'm sure you'll do great with the rest of your schooling and will get a good job when you grow up. And I'm sure Colin would love being an uncle, being an uncle seems like a lot of fun.
Plus he'd be great at taking baby photos! He's gonna be a photojournalist when he finishes school! Like, a proper news one, not the sort that stalks you! I'm gonna be a, well, sort of like a research scientist, but for the Ministry of, of Intelligence? I'm not sure what they call that in other countries! But I'd help solve all sorts of mysteries, like working out new ways to do crime scene forensics, or to fight weapons and stuff! I like puzzles! And helping people! I guess you already know what you're going to do, huh? 'cause you're doing it!
Those are both great career choices, I'm sure the both of you will do great! Well this is what I'm doing for now. I'll always be a musician but I still have a lot of life left ahead of me and a lot of things I'd love to do. I'd kind of like to be President one day or maybe a professional baseball player. My options are still wide open but if I was just musician and actor for the rest of my life, then I'd still be very happy.
You act too? Neat! Aren't you kind of old to start being a professional sportsman, though? I thought they all started as kids! Though I suppose you must be very fit, having to do all those concerts!
Yeah, I act too. Unfortunately yeah, it's not a very likely career for me but I still think it would be awesome. If I wasn't doing this, I wish I would be a professional baseball player. Yeah I am pretty fit I guess, I have to be. Between performing on stage, playing all the sports that I do and managing my diabetes, I stay in shape.
There's 2 types of diabetes, Type 1 and Type 2. People with Type 1 have to inject themselves with insulin and Type 2 can manage it with medication. I'm Type 1 so I have to give myself insulin, yeah.

Having Type 1, I have to constantly monitor my blood glucose levels and make sure they don't get too high or too low.
