Face bruised and lip split slightly, the Doctor winces as he feels Jack move to help him up, his side hurting again, and he instantly knows that one of his ribs must have been fractured again, or maybe just a bad bruise.
"I'm going to... what?! No! I'm not, don't be ridiculous." he muttered, suddenly spitting out a bit of blood to the sidewalk.
He had been caught trying to steal something from an old museum, and now he had paid the price, but at least he had escaped.
"Regenerate?" Jack's going to guess it's a trait for of them to want to avoid that change." He lifts his arm up to offer The Doctor some support. He looks at the blood on the sidewalk.
"That doesn't look healthy," Jack comments, and he looks around to see where The TARDIS is parked. "What were you doing anyway to get beat up like this?" He's wondering if he's should be worried about something more than finding the TARDIS.
He instantly hisses, although not because of the pain, but because of the R word, and he lets the immortal help him. It's been a while since he's actually been around any Jack, so he shudders slightly at the feel of him, one of the only times he knows and is reminded he is a Time Lord.
"Don't worry about it," he breathes, lifting his arm and wiping his mouth carefully with his sleeve, though cursing once he realizes that his lip is split.
"Nothing. Got ganged up on." he explains, holding onto his left side, unsure whether he should tell Jack anything. If he'd try to be noble and just send him back into jail.
He figured that much, none seem to like the idea of changing faces. Jack watches him, the feeling of making your closest friend and mentor shiver at the closeness of him is disturbing.
"Alright, you'll heal fine on your own," Jack muses, he still tries to catch sight of his TARDIS just in case she's going to be needed to patch him up.
The mention of the ganging up gets a quirk of an eyebrow. "Who or what ganged up on you?" He's almost ready to head into the museum himself to figure what happened.
He shakes his head, "Just a bunch of blokes who think they're cool if they beat up smaller guys." Actually, he was just glad that they hadn't decided to undress him, the Doctor had been to those kinds of jails before, and he definitely... didn't want to relive anything again.
Nodding towards an alley a few blocks away, he glances over at Jack, "She's over there, I think." His metacrisis shouldn't be too far away, he knew that the Doctor could take care of himself, most of the time anyway.
"Really?" Jack asks, he tuts at the idea of the blokes. He didn't plan to take this poor Doctor back there. He would never do such a thing, and he goes to lead him away.
He gives a nod, he gives him a once over with a wince. "I'll have to go back there, I wonder if they want to try beating up a bigger guy."
Jack goes to take this Doctor down to that alley. "You think? You're getting a little senile in old age." He says, with a bit of lightness in his voice.
The Doctor quickly shakes his head and grips a little to Jack's coat, "No, really, you don't have to. I suspect they're still looking for me, I just... need to get back, and I'll be alright."
At least he had gotten what got him into this whole mess and had stashed it inside one of his coat pockets, which he also had to steal back from the police.
"I... have a guest, and unfortunately, he knows who to fly her. I wouldn't be surprised if he had just stolen her and taken off without me." he frowns at that thought.
"Okay, I won't then, let's get going then," Jack's not going to stick around to risk anything, so he goes to help get this Doctor away from here. "You've got a great record of getting out of jails, lets keep it that way."
Jack looks over his back, he really hopes The Doctor's not being followed by the police. There's no coordinates, so he can't use his Vortex Manipulator to teleport them to the TARDIS' location.
"A guest?" Jack asks, again with a puzzled look on his face. He continues to hustle The Doctor to where he may of left his TARDIS. "I really hope your friend didn't run off with your TARDIS." He
