"What?! Do you honestly know what it took to just get out of there? It's not high security, but really, those guards were huge... No. We're going back to the TARDIS." he sighs, rubbing at his neck, sucking on his lower lip, which appeared to be split.
"I think I fractured a rib." he groans, irritated as he starts down the street.
"You're just no fun any more, thats why everyone leaves, it gets boring," John mused as he hurried after the Doctor, shoving his hands into his pocket and giving the man next to him an annoyed look. "I wasn't say we go back in there, just find a good way to get our own back. Perhaps some sort of detonation device we could throw in?"
Funnily enough, he had such a thing at the ready if needed. "Fractured a rib? You sure?"
He leaned over and gave him a good firm jab just to see how bad it was, probably doing the Doctor no favours.
"Normally I wouldn't care what you do, you can go back if you want, I'm not stopping you. I just need the TARDIS to help- OW, WHAT THE HELL?!" He shouts, hissing at the pain at his side when he gets jabbed.
Stopping to lean against a building, he leans his forehead on the bricks and takes in a breath.
"I really have no idea... why I'm the one Doctor that's always in bloody danger. At this point, I'd take merging, I don't care anymore."
Frowning, he watched the Doctor stumbled to the wall and raised an eyebrow. He ruffled the Doctors hair playfully before gripping his arm and hauling him away from the wall and back onto the pavement, helping him walk along. More because he didn't want to stand around and wait all day.
"Merging? Why would you be stupid enough to try that, either you mind would blow apart or you'd become someone else entirely, seems pointless," he dismissed with a shake of his hands, practically dragging the Doctor along.
"Then again, I think a new you might be more fun, you get into too much danger, hard to keep up!"
"Everyone's been saying that. No, that's not how merging is supposed to work, it's not supposed to be a bad thing, that's... that's only when it's done wrong or for the wrong reasons." It's a bit obvious that he had been obsessed with this topic, especially since someone had told him his future self had gone and failed a merge, breaking himself.
Still. He hadn't heard from that insane, colorful Doctor, so maybe he had escaped that fate.
"I was supposed to merge with our Master," he said after a few minutes, "But that's impossible... you know as well as I that he's dead. Hasn't come back at all."
"Well he's dead and I see no reason why you'd want to. Combine your mind with that mess of drums and anger. You'd be-- Well, actually you'd become quite the interesting man!"
Smirking, he laughed to himself and shook his head. Half Doctor, half Master, sounded like an interesting combo really. Though he did wonder if the Master was still alive, that guy just never stayed dead.
"The futures vast, you never know, might happen still. Might be good for you."
The Doctor firmly shook his head, "No, if he was alive, he would have come back already," he sighed, "And even if he did come back... merging is near impossible to achieve, even if you want it." At this point though, he really didn't care.
Finally seeing the TARDIS, he let out a breath of relief and fumbled inside his pocket to fetch the key before unlocking her and pushing inside.
Almost instantly he felt better, just to be somewhere safe, for now.
"I thought merging was only for those in love or very far into a marital relationship," John mused with a small frown, unsure why any Time Lord would try it regardless of their situation. It'd be like losing themselves. He'd already lost enough of himself to know it wasn't exactly fun.
As they strolled into the TARDIS, he peered around and slipped his hands into his jacket pockets.
"Well, that was amazingly uneventful. Well, for me, you always get all the fun," It was odd to be complaining that he didn't get his ass kicked but he was in an odd mood today.
"It's a myth... you're getting a bit rusty." he lifted a brow over at him, smirking a little before circling the console, glancing over to the stairs; he was not looking forward to stairs right now, but it was the only way to get the the med bay.
"Maybe I'll tell you a bed time story when I don't feel like I'm going to die any second." he grinned cheekily and started up the stairs.
"I'm trying to do what you've asked... a little patience won't kill you."
"First of all, you try and remember everything with a human mind, its impossible! And secondly, where are you going?"
So maybe he liked to tease and annoy this doctor, didn't mean he wanted to be left behind with nothing to do. That had happened once today and he'd missed out on all the fun. Hurrying after the Doctor, he glared at the back of the Time Lords head, trying to somehow do him damage with his mind.
"It might, actually, I only have so much time, being mortal and all. I don't have time to waste yet you insist upon wasting it. Sometimes I think you're just waiting me out till death."
The Doctor stopped in his tracks, though kept his back turned against him, "... Then you're a fool for thinking that." he breathed, glancing over his shoulder before starting down the hall again and into the med bay.
Assuming that he was still following, the Doctor shook off his brown coat, laying it on the table as he started unbuttoning his brown suit.
"And I wasn't wasting time, I got what I was looking for." Even if he had to steal it back from the police.
Growling slightly, he shot the Doctor an annoyed look. He was not a fool, he was by far the brightest mind amongst the apes he was forced to live with. Small achievement but the only one he had.
Taking a seat on a nearby counter, he watched the Doctor undress with uninterested eyes. What was the Doctor was is and visa versa, he was more interested in what their trip had been about.
"Oooh really? Going to share why we took a trip to a jail besides to get you all beaten up?"
