Well, there aren't many of us, to be fair, and we're not supposed to tell people we exist, so that can be a bit of a problem on whole identification front!

Not... I see... well, everything. Even what isn't... here-now. It's hard to keep everything straight. It's why I didn't think you were here.

If I wasn't here, I wouldn't be able to talk to you, even if you talked to me, because unless I could see and hear through time too, I wouldn't know what you were saying! Unless you were a sort of astral temporal projection, I suppose, which is certainly possible!

I've had people talk to me thinking I was a ghost. It sort of... enables communication, I think.

[reaches out to try and poke him and see, even though they totally shook hands, so he should know this already]

[moves out of the way of the poke because hey, personal space] But if I was in a different time, would you still think I was here?

I don't think so, but it is possible that we could be in different but touching times, and are actually seeing each other through the boundary or some sort of interstitial space thing, I dunno! Why, what's the date for you? It's 1997 for me!

[puts a hand to his head] I was right. It's 2010 for me.

One of us is thirteen years out! Which is interesting, because I'm thirteen years old, but that's probably just a coincidence!

Probably. [looks around] It looks like my house.

And I don't really remember how I got here, so it's probably me that's out! Bugger!

I was right. [He looks relieved at that.] Don't worry. You'll get home eventually, probably.

Oh, I'm not worried! There's probably just a temporal fold somewhere nearby, or, failing that, I could call my friend up, because he owns a time machine! Or, right, I could call me now and ask me how I got back then in order to become the me that's now, although that would be an ontological paradox, which might be bad! Hmm! You know, growing up near temporal rifts is a major source of psychic phenomena, apparently!

You do this kind of thing a lot? [blinks] Huh. We always thought it was the psychic phenomena that made the temporal rifts.

I guess it could work both ways? I'll try and remember to ask the Doctor the next time I see him! But he's definitely said before that living near rifts makes people psychic! Except he used a lot more words and waved his hands a lot!

The Doctor? Who's that?

My friend, with the time machine! Well, he's sort of my tutor, too, actually! See, because the headmaster of my school got killed and the people who took it over wouldn't let magical kids with non-magical parents come back, which is me, but then I met the Doctor and he offered to let me travel with him sometimes for educational reasons! He's not a wizard, though, he's just very, very, very, very smart! Like, ridiculously smart!

That sounds... complicated. So you used to do magic, but now you travel through time with him?

Pretty much! I mean, sometimes I still do magic, but not when I'm in my own time, because that would mean the Snatchers would find me, which would put my dad and brother in danger!

Oh. I think I get it. So maybe you're here so you can be safe for a little while.

Not unless you've got my brother and dad hidden away somewhere too!
