[Listens intently to the whole thing, grateful she didn't have to listen to too much exposition from Rachel. And maybe it reminds her of Beth just a little. But any teary eyes you see are your imagination, really.]

It's really pretty. I think a lot of people in glee will be able to relate.

It's hard not to relate. [Rachel wants to say more, to gush effusively about the deeper meaning in the song and the show itself, but she... wisely keeps her mouth shut. Look, she's learning how to deal with people who aren't crazy like she is. Be proud.]

This is... from the same play as that song you and Kurt were fighting over last year, right?

Have you ever seen The Wizard of Oz? The musical version is based off of this book, The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch. The story of who she was, and why she was considered so "wicked".

Turns out she was just... passionate, and a little misguided. I've always liked her.

I think I'd be entitled to a childhood do over if I'd never seen The Wizard of Oz.

Oh. Sounds... interesting. So... in three sentences or less, can you tell me what's going on in this song?

Three sentences or less? [This is Rachel giving you a Look. Really, three sentences? Talk about Olympic efforts, here.]

Glinda and Elphaba-- the Wicked Witch-- have been friends since school and they originally were both going to go against the Wizard because of his cruelty to the Animals and unfair politics, except when they got to the Emerald City Glinda backed out. She wanted Elphaba to just go with the Wizard, because it was easier and it wouldn't get her hurt, but Elphaba was too proud and too focused on doing what was right to back down. So now they've gone their separate ways, but they still love each other and care about each other, even though they've chosen different paths-- one a socialite and the other a rebel.

There. Three sentences.

... That bordered on run-on, a little, but not bad. [You even get a little grin for not boring her to tears.]

I'm guessing I'd be the socialite.

The full story's much more complex. There's a love triangle and murder and, you know, glitz and glamour. It's one of my favorite musicals. [Not like they don't have personal experience with love triangles. Oy.]

The blonde with beautiful dresses and a penchant for helping those in need? [Okay, maybe the 'helping' part is a stretch. But Quinn doesn't know that, and maybe Popular kiiiind of had good intentions?] She's not a cheerleader, but close enough.

Hey, that's okay. I had a stint of not being a cheerleader, anyway. ... You know, I'm pretty sure everybody in glee's going to fall over if they hear we're doing a song together.
