I spoke to Mod 1 about this before posting this, and I felt that with this potentially touchy subject of this episode, we need a place to be CLEAR. A place to clarify that none of us are furthering a personal agenda and all our comments are based on the characters rather than our own personal feelings.
The last thing we want is wank guys.
For the record: I'm with Kurt on most things, and Kurt is Kurt, but I respect everyone's beliefs and none of my comments are my own personal stabs at anything.
♥ I appreciate this post A LOT. For me, this episode echoed a lot of personal battles I have with faith-- my heart does believe in a higher power, and I'm fundamentally Jewish, but I definitely separate that from Rachel's... crazy neurotic-ness.
If you ever have a question about where she or I are coming from in a particular scene, related to this or not, PLEASE don't hesitate to PM me!
Also, our fandom is so kick-ass. Just throwing that out there.
I second Rachel-mun, this post was a definite necessity after an episode like that. Personally, I believe that anything that gives someone comfort is a good thing. I'm...not quite sure yet what Tina specifically believes because the writers were oh-so clear about it, but I suppose God figures into it, obviously. Tina's pretty nice overall though, so I don't foresee her saying anything...on purpose. Possibly out of suprise, though, like what happened today. Either way, I try to be as clear as possible.
ironically, this is actually, in my opinion ,the best ep they've done so far. ^^ The played it rather well, and as a gay guy Kurts feelings were more or less quite how I felt. Well played.
Oh, it was definitely the best episode they've done so far. As a self-decided atheist I felt the same way about Kurt's feelings, it worked exceedingly well. Doesn't make it any less touchy in RP though.
Sooo yeah, I'm way too lazy to log out and back in. You know who I am. XD I have to say, I adore you anyway, but even moreso for making this post and thinking/caring about how people might take everything that's said in regards to this episode, because not many people would.
While my own beliefs more closely parallel Kurt's, we obviously all know that Quinn's uber-religious. I think it's important to note though, that while she got upset during that little ~debate~ in the beginning, and was at the hospital to pray for Mr. Hummel, she never really tried to push her beliefs down anybody's throat.
So that's pretty much how I'll be playing it. Everybody knows what she believes, and that's never going to change, but she won't ever try to ~convert~ anyone. XD Although that'd be pretty hard to do when you're only given two lines an episode.
And I honestly didn't intend for that to be so long. Sorry, hon! I tend to ramble.
Beautiful post, bb. ♥ I was worried about this episode, mostly because religion wank is the worst kind of wank, and I was bracing myself for it to be everywhere after this aired.
I actually share the same fundamental beliefs as Quinn. More or less. But that's neither here nor there.
Basically, Quinn believes what she believes, and she's strong in her faith, but she's learned that pushing it on other people is not the way to go, so you won't find her doing any of that. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how Quinn handled the religion debate this episode. I was expecting them to have her go crazy with it. But maybe that's just because they choose to mostly have her exist on the sidelines now. Which... is a completely different rant. XD
Religion, politics and terminal illness. Three things you don't talk about unless you really know the person. I felt it way too necessary to have a place to keep it real.
Totally understand where you're coming from, both about this and about the separation of OOC/IC in general. I know my guy here is a complete asshole to your kid most of the time, but I personally ♥ your Kurt.
So, yeah, I probably won't have Adam actually say anything about what happened in the ep, but still, I appreciate what this post is meant to do <3
Puck might not be the most sensitive person around but he does care about Kurt's dad and seems to have his own weird sense of respect for other people's religions.
For everybody: In other words, Puck probably doesn't hate you (this time anyway) but it might come out all wrong.
Disclaimer: I'm waaay behind (haven't seen any of this season). But anything said by Sue Sylvester should always be taken with a pinch of salt (or a handful of hair product). Especially on the subject of religion.
