Tipping is the domain of those shitty little jobs where people do for others what those others could very easily do for themselves. It's like an extra "thanks for sacrificing a bit of your dignity and humanity for me, kid".

Plus, that's mainly just a way for their boss to get away with paying them less than minimum wage.

Clearly I'm living in the wrong country. I need to move to Germany, or somewhere with similar values on offering people additional payment for doing their fucking jobs.

Perhaps I could justify forking over a little bit more if there was any effort involved in the task. Pull a couple of shots of espresso or top the thing in whipped cream and then we'll talk. But transferring a house blend from a glass pot into a plastic cup is not grounds for demanding compensation.

Good luck with that. I'm sure Europe is just initiated with refugees from America, seeking asylum after being forced to add a few bucks to their check, so you will probably have some trouble getting a visa.
