Every time someone in our House has said something like that, I got shoved down stairs or had something nicked.

I'd never shove you down the stairs, and I don't steal, either. I don't need to steal. I get everything I want.

It's very sweet of you to offer to help me through everything. Especially since you probably shouldn't. Social status and all that.

My father goes there, sometimes. My mother refuses. She says it smells horrible, and makes her faint of heart. She hates anywhere in Knockturn Alley, actually. Then again, she pretty much hates everything.

We're fighting for the Pure Family. You wouldn't be the first halfblood to want it, as well. We've got a few halfbloods on our side.

I don't go there very often. My mother was disowned.

I never really think about what side makes sense. I just want to be done with school...survive everything. Take care of my Mum.

I don't think my mother cares much for me either, sometimes. But other times...it's hard to say.

She's a Squib. A pureblood...but a Squib. It makes things much worse than they might've been, with how people see me.

A Squib and a half blood. A true half blood, with a Muggle parent. He left, my father did. I don't know much more than that.

Sometimes I wonder what would have been worse for me. Many seem to feel a Squib is so much worse.

Huh. Shit. Well. Certainly not as bad as it could be. Squibs are a result of mucked up bloodlines from way back when, I feel. Covered up, or lesser known Muggle intrusions, or something.

I think for a while my father thought I was going to be one. Then I nearly caught the living room on fire. So then after that they made me do readings and essays every week before school started up for me. I usually just drew pictures instead.

Maybe they are. But I wouldn't tell my Mum that. I already know I'm mud to them, she prefers to pretend otherwise, most of the time.

My Mum has me tutored during the summer. She wants me to work in the Ministry. Become successful and famous and all that.

It's rather selfish of me, but I'm not terrible fond of the idea.

Parents never give a shit about what we want in life, but we're forced to do what they want us to do. I want to be an artist, but that won't happen.

It's sort of tragic, I suppose. We're Slytherins, all about pursuing ambitions, but the ambitions aren't really ours. Most of the time.

My ambition is to stay ~~alive~~ in my parents' inheritance.

My mother doesn't have much money. So...I'll earn it for her.

By what, working for the Ministry? I'm sure there are other ways to make more money.

...You don't understand my Mum. She gets an idea, and how she wants me to go about it, and that's that. She wants me in the Ministry. That's it. I don't have any say in it.

It's a silly thing to explain. People don't get it, I suppose.
