ABut what if the person you're trying to help wants you to be inactive? To just sit on the sidelines.

Even the sidelines can be active; you're a cheerleader, you should know.

That said, there's always something you can do. Even sitting on the sidelines is doing something, when it comes down to it.

No offense, but a comatose parent's a little different than cheering on the football team.

I know. What I'm trying to say is that there's a lot you can still do. Even stepping off, if that's what he's asking you to do, can help. Praying isn't the only option; if he knows you're there to hold his hand when he needs it -- that sort of friendship means a lot.
