Good. [She smiled.]
I can't believe we're going to be parents!
[Because really, she couldn't say it enough.]

I know, I can't believe it either. Are we sure we're not dreaming?

Two reasons I know we aren't: One, we'd both be having the same dream, and while that isn't unheard of, it's terribly uncommon. And two... [She punched him lightly in the shoulder, grinning.]

[Martha#s smile grew.] I don#t think it#s ever too early to start thinking about that. I don#t want to know the gender until the baby#s born, though.

Yes. Nice surprises. Like this one. That time in medical school when I found vomit in my shoe, that was not a nice surprise.

[Martha giggled.] Oh, the many wonderful memories of med school.

They were my favorite shoes too, and I had to get rid of them. There's just no getting rid of that smell.
Sometimes I wondered if I was going to make it to graduation in one piece.

You know, there really isn't.
[She laughed.] It truly is a question mark. I can't say I survived unscathed, that's certain.

I think it's a hazing thing. If you can make it through medical school, you can handle patients.

[Martha nods thoughtfully.] You do have a point. Working in a clinic is not the easiest job.

It's not even the patients I mind. Kids are great. I love kids. It's the parents I can't stand.

You better bloody well love kids. I have to suffer for the next seven months to have yours!
[The hormones are already kicking in. Sorry Tom.]

[She smiles faintly. If only he knew...that in another time he'd given his life for hers. Sometimes she felt so small next to him.]
You flatter me.
