I'm sure Arthur understands.

But yeah, it can feel....dirty I guess is a good word for it.

It's not even entirely about Arthur.

It's just... being dishonest in that way with someone - leading them on, it's skeevy. Really, really skeevy. It feels skeevier than the other lies.

Probably because you're using yourself, your attractiveness, to get what you need. And you're playing with someone's emotions in a way the other lies don't.

Yeah, I'm not well-suited to the role of Mata Hari. The jeans and scarves, plus I'm way too short.

You don't need to be a femme fatale to get men to do what you want. Just a flirty smile and some attention usually works.

Oh, I know.

I've been playing 'vulnerable and naive' a lot more often than I like, lately. I can kind of see why some women like doing it - but it's just not my thing.

[Laughs.]

Yeah, I never understood that act myself, but it does work on some men.

[She shrugs.] If I tried to be seductive and sexy, I'd just look absurd. But I can almost pass as a twelve-year-old, so that's the angle I play. It's about knowing your strengths, I guess...

That's exactly what it is. One of the first things they teach you at Quantico.

It's annoying as hell. Usually I'm doing everything I can to make sure people know I'm not a little girl, and I can take care of myself.

Well, think of it as playing a part. Which is what undercover work is, in spite of how closely related your undercover life is to your real life.

And everyone who knows you and matters knows that you're a very independent young woman who is capable of taking care of herself.
